Vegas Man/Hotel Managerf

Can either one of you tell me what is happening in Vegas the week of May 15th. I made reservations from Sunday, May 19th thru Thursday, May 19, and in checking the hotel site to see if I could get a better deal, have found that the rooms have doubled in price from what I am paying. Usually this only happens when there is something big going on.

I%26#39;m not vegasman or hotelmanager, but, I will be there during that week and I had some huge problems with finding a room. First of all, I know (because we are 2 college girls going), that this is the week of spring break! Also I guess there are a few conventions and whatnot, and some kind of NASCAR event. I%26#39;m pretty sure everything is totally booked!! I also read that this is the 2nd or 3rd busiest week because of all that and that there are some 300,000 extra people there. So get ready for a crazy week! I don%26#39;t actually know this stuff but this is what I have heard from trying to figure it all out, so yeah.

There are several conventions that start or end during that week. The total number adds up to over 80,000. That will drive prices up. Be glad you booked early. If you want to see who they all are, go to: http://www.pcap.com/lvconv.htm#May05

May 15th is Las Vegas%26#39;s 100th birthday - even though the main events will not take place until July 2nd - The following events are scheduled during the time you have indicated.

In addition to these events, as VM stated, conventions will be filling the area.

MAY

Shine your boots and dust off your hat - HELLDORADO DAYS will return to Las Vegas in 2005! A re-creation of old Las Vegas will be staged at the Main Street Station parking lot from May 10 through 15. You%26#39;ll find a fully operating post office, a livery stable, general store and much more in the Western Village along with daily entertainment and food vendors. MEN - let your mustache and beard grow and enter the WHISKERINO CONTEST. And make sure you wear your HELLDORADO BUTTON or you%26#39;ll take your chances of going to jail and visiting KANGAROO COURT! Here%26#39;s a review of the events:

May 10 - 15, Western Village

May 16, Helldorado Charity Golf Tournament at Silverstone Golf Course

May 18 - 22, Las Vegas Gun Club holds Helldorado ';Shootout'; Trap Shooting Tournament

15: HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAS VEGAS!!

We will celebrate as only Las Vegas can on our town%26#39;s birthday, Sunday, May 15, 2005!!! The events start with a re-creation of the LAND AUCTION that started Las Vegas. The auction will be held in the Western Village at the Main Street Station parking lot. You won%26#39;t want to miss the WORLD%26#39;S LARGEST BIRTHDAY CAKE!! YES - our cake is registered with Guinness Book of World Records to break, or totally squash, the current record. Our cake will weigh-in at more than 130,000 lbs and will be served to everyone after the cake-cutting ceremony. This event takes place under the canopy of the Fremont Street Experience beginning at dusk.

Thanks Vegas Man and Hotel Manager - Should be a very interesting week.

Not my first visit to Vegas and will not be my last. Counting the days until we leave.

Vegasdummy - I think lovesvegas was asking about MAY, not March when you will be there......(I never remember our college spring break being in May.....I was on summer break by then.... ;-) ).

Just an FYI.....

Biloxi,

I think the name explains it all. ;-)

Joe

Vegasman,

;-)

don%26#39;t think that didn%26#39;t cross my mind either.....

Biloxi

I was sitting here thinking... ';isnt the race today?'; ... Hey that means I have to go get some beer !!!

vegasdummy --

Your name says it all.

My question was answered correctly.

vegasdummy is not too sharp. She posted a thread last week stating she thought it would be better to show up in LV without reservations during spring break and take her chances. I bet her parents are proud of her spending all that money for a college education.
