We hope to be in Las Vegas end of July beginning of August. I rang a hotel today and asked if prices will go down. She said no and the reason was that school is out. I thought that Las Vegas wasn%26#39;t as busy that time of the year. Any opinions on this please?
Hotels July/August
prices usually are cheaper in july/august because it is so hot there. i have gone in august and paid aprox. $400/per person to cover my airfare and hotel. i usually get a package deal though. coming from europe i don%26#39;t know what you have available to you. if you can wait until about june to secure a hotel do that. otherwise if you reserve one now and find a better deal you usually can cancel your reservation. i know people that have a room reserved so they know they have one and then keep watching the prices.

Mari, I%26#39;d bookmark the rate calendars at 1/2 dozen or so hotels that are on your list of possibilities. Then monitor the rates and compare. Prices will likely drop, more at some hotels than at others.
As an example, the rate at Flamingo for my five nights in August dropped $80 in the last week or so from $590 to $510. The same dates at Ballys haven%26#39;t budged yet, they%26#39;re still at $655, but I expect they will. Last August our five nights at Ballys cost $475.
Right now I%26#39;m tempted to book the Flamingo, and then just cancel later if a better deal comes by. (If you do this, be sure to book directly with the hotel so that you can cancel without penalty.)
Summer is a great time to shop around for a great deal. There are so many good hotels in Vegas that you can almost certainly get a terrific rate at one of them for your specific dates.
Thank you both for replying!
Prices typically are lower. We are planning our fourth trip. Our first trip was over the first week of August. Rooms for the entire week at most places were very inexpensive. We stayed at the Hotel San Remo and since we booked in advanced, we got the room rate for the first night the entire week. It was about $39 a night.
Here%26#39;s just an idea of what I was talking about. These are my 1/2 dozen or so that I%26#39;m keeping an eye on.

If you want to go more upscale, there%26#39;s Bellagio, Venetian, Paris, Mandalay Bay, Wynn.
On the other end of things, if you%26#39;re accustomed to and comfortable with EU/UK B%26amp;B travel (and believe me, I have plenty of fond memories in that regard!), you can save a whole lotta money and still get decent mid-strip and south-strip strip hotels with pools at Tropicana (great pool), Excalibur, Imperial Palace, and Boardwalk. Especially at their summer rates, I%26#39;d wager that their accommodations exceed that of similarly priced urban B%26amp;Bs on your side of the pond, but with the advantages of being full-service, full-scale hotels.
In other words, there%26#39;s a room somewhere in Vegas with your name on it! Finding it can be half the fun.

...and let me not forget San Remo in that last group of inexpensive hotels (even though it%26#39;s not exactly on-strip, it%26#39;s an easy walk). What I forgot to mention about San Remo, Imperial Palace, Trop, Excalibur and Boardwalk is that they are all inexpensive hotels plunked down in the best parts of the strip.
We are going from July31 to August 5 and got the Monte Carlo for cheap and will keep an eye on other deals. If you book now and find a better rate you can always cancel and rebook
Drake you are so helpful! Thank you! Thanks everybody! I am really looking forward to the trip!
