I stayed at the Orleans for two nights a few months ago. I noticed a lot of people want to know more about this hotel. So here%26#39;s my take on it FYI.
Taxi from airport to Orleans was about $14 with a tip.
Area surrounding this hotel? Don%26#39;t expect to walk past the hotel area. There%26#39;s really nothing there.
Check in was a breeze, and they give you a coupon book with great deals.
We ate at the coffee shop( I had Lox and Eggs and enjoyed it). Nothing special, but not bad.
We ate at the Mexican Restaurant( great food and don%26#39;t forget to use your coupon book and get a free margarita..yummy). Very reasonably priced food.
We did not go to buffet or other restaurants.
Security checks your key as you go to elevator( I like that).
It is a long walk from elevator to room( no big deal). The rooms are terrific. We just had a regular room with a view of the mountains. The room is big, comfortable with a terrific bathroom. There is a sliding door from the room to the bathroom which is a little weird but didn%26#39;t bother me. If this room was on the strip, it certainly would cost a lot more.
The casino seems large. They have great comps so get your player cards. The cocktail waitresses are very nice and attentive. So the service everywhere at the Orleans is great and laid back.
Check out the spa. I think there is a coupon to workout for free. Otherwise, it%26#39;s 10 bucks to workout. Relatively speaking, that%26#39;s a great deal. The workout area is okay, but the spa facility is really nice, with great showers and dressing room area, and nice hot tub facility. Other hotels charge at least $20 bucks just to get in.
The pool area seemed okay, although no one was in it because it was cold.
The bowling facility is top notch. The movie facility is great( stadium seating and great sound quality). There is an arcade for kids.
There is a shuttle to get to the strip. It runs every half hour or so. Overall, like most people say, great quality for the money. I now know why lots of locals go there.
P.S. Unless you are over 55 years old, you probably won%26#39;t be interested in the main show entertainers. Englbert was there when we were staying, and Vicki Lawrence was coming up the next week ( Oh boy).
Summary: Very enjoyable and you will be treated like a high roller with investing very little.
That%26#39;s what I think, and I%26#39;m sticking to it..lol
Orleans ReviewThank you very much for the review. I am so psyched to go. 4 weeks, 3 day, 8 minutes.
Orleans Reviewlox is smoked salmon ( oy vey) lol
ty for review we arrive there on wed..the more reviews we read the more it sounds like we should have booked are whole stay here.. we are splitting between orleans and MC I%26#39;ll compare and submit a review when we return going for a week.

Looking forward to your review of both places and comparison. Actually, you did a good thing by splitting your stay between one strip and one off-strip hotel. This will let you know if you are a ';strip person'; or off-strip person for your next stay.
I agree with Staunch. I think once people make their first trip to LV, or their first trip in a long time, you will have a much better idea where to stay and what to do the next go around.
I%26#39;ve found it much easier to plan my trips now, especially with this forum.
So splitting between two hotels is a pretty good idea.
Yes twins, do report back and let us know what you thought about both hotels. Also, how you felt about changing hotels during your stay. I%26#39;d be interested in how that went; good, bad, ugly, etc. Lol.
Props for the Wolfman!!!
I am a local, who goes to Orleans frequently, and your review is spot on ! Yes the entertainment is somewhat for the 50 plus crowd, but they also have an arena with hockey games and other fun stuff for the younger crowd : )
Cynda, thanks for the props, and you are right about the stadium. I believe there was a rodeo going on there when we arrived, but not totally sure.
Can%26#39;t wait to be back in Vegas 3/24 to 3/29. We%26#39;ll be at RedLioness%26#39;s meet and Greet.
I have to agree with everything Wolfman said. We stayed at the Orleans from 2/14 to 2/18 on our very first trip to Vegas. Everyone there was SO nice and helpful, and I too liked that the security guards asked to see your room card before letting you get on the elevators.
We got lucky and our room was only a few rooms down the hall from the elevators. We had a lovely view of the Strip and the mountains (far off in the distance) behind that. VERY nice. I also liked how large the rooms were, and the decent sized bathrooms (including the cute little window in the tub area).
We ate at the Mexican restaurant in the hotel, and it was very good. We also had the breakfast buffet one morning, and it was exceptional. I wish we would have gotten around to trying the dinner buffet, but the first couple of days there, I had a head cold and didn%26#39;t have much of an appetite and just wanted to sleep, so the buffet was not on my list of things ';to do.'; Judging from the vast array of tasty looking desserts that I saw in the case during the morning we ate there, I%26#39;d bet the dinner buffet is pretty good.
The casino was huge, with TONS of machines. Considering I played the nickle slots for 2 hours on only $10, I think I did good. I wasn%26#39;t looking to win big, just be entertained for a while.
We had a rental car, so we used valet parking a lot. A few times we just parked in the lot ourselves, but when we were coming in for the night, we always used valet. Tipped the guys 2 or 3 bucks each time and it all worked out OK. I absolutely LOVED driving the 2005 Mustang...turned heads wherever we went (the car, that is, not me, LOL).
The location of the Orleans isn%26#39;t bad either. There is a gas station with a convenience store just across a side street, and there%26#39;s a Walgreens up the street too (I swear, I%26#39;ve never seen more Walgreens in any town than in Vegas, LOL). We took a lot of the side streets to get around when we were heading to the strip, so we avoided a lot of the bad traffic. Traffic on Tropicana itself wasn%26#39;t too awful most of the time (although we did witness some guy getting out of his car and punching a young punk kid in the face when that kid%26#39;s car rolled back into his car. WOW, VIVA LAS VEGAS! LOL
I LOVED Vegas and I can%26#39;t wait to return, especially when I%26#39;m feeling well and not sick!! And I wouldn%26#39;t hesitate to stay at The Orleans again. It was a great place to stay! =)

I enjoyed reading all the comments here. I found them really helpful! I am thinking of staying at the Orleans and another hotel on the strip.
