Hi...Four of us are flying out soon to Las Vegas...
Taking my 15 yr old nephew who is a skateboard addict....
Besides sightseeing, I am sure we will have to hunt down a few skateboard parks...
Are there any in Las Vegas or near it ( such as Henderson), and if so, where?
Of course, I wont attempt to skateboard...dont want to break a hip...lol..I think I will just take my chances with gambling!!
Also, I heard about some place called '; Gameworks';..anyone have any insight on what this place is all about?
thanks ( as always) for your input
Please help me out with this one---bored teenager!!!!!!!!!
I%26#39;m sure we went into Gameworks, to check it out for when we return with our boys (13 %26amp; 11). It will probably be perfect to kill a couple of hours, my hubby and his friend were desperate to stay and play! I think there were tables upstairs where you could sit and watch too. Think i would have a headache after 1 hour! If the place we went was gameworks it is on the main strip just down from the MGM a bit (going into the middle of the strip direction). Hope this makes sense!

Can%26#39;t help you on the skateboards, but Gameworks is an arcade a little bit north of MGM Grand. Most of the games are of the video type, there are a few pinballs in poor repair, a climbing wall and some games that are hooked together in series so you can pretend to race cars, jetskis, etc against other people. They have a little alcove with old games like pacMan, galaga, etc that is usually pretty empty. They also had a mechanical bull the last time I was there.
You can kill an hour there, maybe your nephew would enjoy it longer. To me it looks like the place is getting pretty run down.
Try Desert Breze Skatepark

On the website there are links to several more. I don%26#39;t know when you%26#39;re coming but there%26#39;s a big concert %26amp; skate contest on 3/26
Maybe the Waterpark on the strip would be a good idea for some adventure in which you can all participate. How about the wild rollercoasters at Stratosphere and NY NY?
Java,
Waterpark closed last year. Never to re-open on the Strip. It will re-open somewhere else in the city, probably in 2007.
Blue,
Not sure how soon is soon, or if your nephew likes Baseball. But the Vegas Minor League team has their first home game Friday April 15th. http://www.lv51.com/schedule/ shows their full schedule. Other fun things for kids Mini Golf, Mini Grand Prix, Movies, arcades and All day band for rides at Stratosphere.
Skateboard park is easy to get to. Just take Spring Mountain West about 6 miles from the Strip. It%26#39;s on the left at the Desert Breeze Park. He can even take the bus if you want.
Joe
thanks everyone!!!!!!!! Lots of valuable info here....
and if all else fails...I can buy him a ticket to see JUBILEE
( kidding)...haha
jerseygirl -
That last post about Jubilee should be banned !
Anyway, there is a nice little gun shop where he can fire a machine gun. I forgot the name of the place.
Ok, I am very confused...it is NOT ok for a teenage boy to see a show with a bit of nudity, yet it is ok for the same boy to play with machine guns?? What is happening in our world???
I don%26#39;t know anything about skateboarding in Vegas, but if you haven%26#39;t considered it, The Tournament of Kings might appeal to him. It is at Excalibur, jousting knights on horseback, Merlin, pyrotechnics, lots of action with audience participation and price includes a meal that you eat without utensils.
A couple of things our 14 year old daughter enjoys are the rides on the Stratosphere tower and the 4-D magic motion rides at different hotels. Oh yeah and the NY NY coaster. They can get kind of pricey so look for discount coupons - VegasResource.com sometimes has them.
