Convention Area

Looking for some input on the Convention Center area. I am attending an Event in June, and the seminar takes place at the Convention center. What hotel would the Gurus of Vegas travel recommend? I like Sports books, gambling, and and night life that attracts single woman. Yes, I am a single guy.

Thanks in advance!!

Convention Area

If you want something close (walking distance) to the convention center with sports book, gambling, etc, you only have one choice...the Las Vegas Hilton. If you will have a car or want to take taxis, then you can go anywhere. Depending on your age, some places will be better than others. If you are in your 20s or early 30s, consider The Palms, Hard Rock, Rio or TI. Of these four, only TI is on the strip, but they each cater to the younger crowd.

Convention Area

The Monorail stops at the Convention Center. So you can stay at any hotel that is close to a monorail stop and still have easy access to the Convention Center. MGM, Bally%26#39;s, Flamingo, Imperial Palace, Harrah%26#39;s and Sahara all have Monorail stops. Across from the MGM you have NYNY, Excalibur and Tropicana. Across from Bally%26#39;s is Caesar%26#39;s and Bellagio. Across from Harrah%26#39;s you have the Mirage and Treasure Island. So, anywhere on that part of the Strip, you have a monorail connectio withing walking distance (20 minutes or less). Rides are $3, $10 for a 1 day pass, $25 for a 3 day pass and $20 for 10 rides.

Eric, Vegas,

Thanks for the tips, they are great. I am actuall in my mid 30%26#39;s, so ';now'; what hotel would put me in the midddle for night life action?

Tahnks Again ...

Well, depends on your budget my friend...if you are on business and not picking up the tab personally, I would opt for Caesar%26#39;s Palace or Mandalay Bay.

Harrah%26#39;s has the Carnival Court, not a club, but a fun outdoor bar. Venetian has club Vivid, brought to you by the same people that bring you adult movies. MGM has Studio 54. Paris is nice (Located adjacent to Bally%26#39;s), but no clubs there, the lounge has good music. Aladdin has a few nice clubs and bars.

But CP and MB are not on the monorail line. Paris/Bally%26#39;s/Aladdin would be good as they are on the line.

Herf, CP is across the street from Flamingo, which has a stop. That%26#39;s close enough for me to justify staying at the best place on the strip.

WOW, TO MANY CHOICES!! If this wasn%26#39;t my first visit, I wouldn%26#39;t be so concerned. Sounds like it is allot of personal preference. What about the place with the most comfortable King Sized beds? Yes, I know I am getting very Anal, but I need to pull a trigger soon, before my company changes their mind on the trip lol

Eric is correct, and Herf, Aladdin doesn%26#39;t have a monorail stop. You%26#39;d have to walk to MGM or Bally%26#39;s to get on the Monoarail. In my first post on this subject I mentioned who had stops and what hotel was across the street.

In most cases the hotel across the street was MUCH nicer than the hotel with the stop. Mirage vs Harrah%26#39;s. Caesar%26#39;s vs Flamingo. Bellagio vs Bally%26#39;s. Mandalay Bay vs MGM. (ok, not right across the street, but Mandalay Bay is connected to Excalibur by their own tram and Excalibur is diagonally across the street from MGM)

True - I was just thinking of convenience for m17 - not having to have to cross the strip and all.....
