I%26#39;ll be going to Las Vegas at the end of October for my 30th birthday. I%26#39;m not too fussed about staying in the expensive $100/$200+ a night, and am quite happy to stay somewhere cheaper. As long as it%26#39;s clean and near to The Strip. I%26#39;ve looked at some of the hotels on The Strip for cheaper prices but would appreciate advice from anyone who%26#39;s stayed in the cheaper hotels (i.e Bellagio and Venetian are definitely out!!)
Last time I stayed the the Las Vegas Hilton but it was a little too far out, and would prefer somewhere a little closer.
Cheap Hotels on/near The Strip
I%26#39;m a big fan of Priceline.com -- if you%26#39;re not picky about where you stay, I think Priceline is a great option. To see the list of hotels, visit biddingfortravel.com -- you may be able to get something super cheap so far out. As long as you%26#39;re not going the first week in November, you won%26#39;t have any problems finding a cheap room... there are huge conventions going on the first 1-2 weeks of November.
Cheap Hotels on/near The Strip
alot of people like the Orleans--its not on the strip. Aladdin is on strip and will be undergoing renovations/construction to change it to Planet Hollywood--so they might have some good deals if willing to deal with that whole issue.
I%26#39;d just keep on looking at the hotel websites, sign up for their email promotions. I got emails from Mirage and tropicana with ';special'; rates for March and April just a few weeks ago. Depending on your dates and overall occupany rates-- some of the bigger strip hotels have rates starting at under a $100.
Like everyone else will tell you--when you see a good rate book it and you can always cancel if something better comes along. Also check travelzoo.com-- they have had some specials for LV hotels--usually for march, april and sometimes may in the recent weeks.
Do you have rough dates? Weekends are always gonna cost more, try to go Sun-Thur for cheapest rooms. Are you going to rent a car? If so, staying off-strip (any of the Station casinos, the Orleans) would probably get you sub-100 rate. The new monorail runs right next to LV Hilton, so it%26#39;s more accessible. Maybe a north-strip property like stratosphere, sahara, stardust, new frontier. Also, this far out, rates are still in flux, probably check again within 3 months of trip for better rates. Just make sure you book direct and not thru a travel site - they sometimes impose a cancellation penalty whereas a direct reservation usually has no penalty within 48-72 hours of arrival.
I assume you mean a hotel on or within a short walk to the strip.
Some inexpensive on-strip options include Barbary Coast and Casino Royale, which are midstrip across from Caesars Palace and Mirage, respectively (great location). Neither have a pool, but in late October that might not matter. Imperial Palace also is an option in this part of Vegas (across from CP as well.)
Southstrip there is the San Remo which is off-strip but very close to MGM Grand, Tropicana, and NYNY. The Tropicana itself might fit your budget as well.
There are plenty of tripadviser reviews for these hotels (just scroll down the column on the left) to get a sense of what%26#39;s what.
I agree that the IP would probably fit the bill for you better than anything else for location and reasonable price.
Thanks everyone for all your advice, it%26#39;s all much appreciated. I%26#39;ll be heading over there over the halloween weekend, so I guess the prices will be a little higher, but that%26#39;s okay.
I%26#39;ll keep on looking for the better deals off the sites you have mentioned and may risk leaving it another month or two before booking the hotel. Although as I will be there for a holiday weekend it may be best to book sooner, do you think? Also one of you guys mentioned Las Vegas is going all convention week on me, which will be around the time I%26#39;ll be there but I%26#39;m sure not all the hotels will be booked up just yet.
On strip and cheap, Imperial Place, Circus Circus, Tropicana, Excalibur, Frontier, Stardust, Casino Royale, Riviera and Barbary Coast. My recommendation from this group Imperial Palace, and Stardust.
Off Strip and cheap, San Remo, Gold Coast, Orleans and Palace Station. My recommendation Orleans. They have a shuttle that will get you to the Strip free and in no time.
San Remo is a great place to stay. We have stayed there three times. There are some really crappy reviews of it on here. They would scare me away, but typically I like to discover things on my own. Anyways, we did discover that if you ask for services at the San Remo- like an upgrade- they will grant it or grant it the next day. We got rooms there for $39 to $49 a night.
