Traveling from arizona to vegas saftey question

Well I have never posted on this site but I always read everyones posts and I have never seen this question asked so I am leaving for Vegas for the first time and had a question or two I hope someone could answer

I always travel at night, so just incase I take a firearm with me not loaded or anything and in a case but just incase I where to break down in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. So I just wanted to know what the law says for Vegas. And then am I allowed to bring it into my room and lock it in a safe in a room or can it even be brought into the casino

Thanks in advanced and sorry if I have offended anyone with this question

Traveling from arizona to vegas saftey question

I have yet to see anyones bags inspected by the personnel at the front desk. If you don%26#39;t want to leave it locked in the trunk of your car, you can leave it in your room. Just leave it locked in the case, and leave the ammunition in your car.

Traveling from arizona to vegas saftey question

No offense indeed, a legitimate question.

When I was last in LV, 2002 the Concealed carry laws allowed for a loaded weapon to be stored in your glove box etc. IF you have the weapon on your person, though without being a Nevada resident or a CCW permit valid in Nevada (no, Arizona permits are NOT valid in NV), that%26#39;s a felony. REMEMBER, if you do this, and are stopped CLEARLY and CALMLY explain to the officer that you have such a weapon in your glove box, before you open it to retrieve your vehicle information.

Casinos are private property and none that I know of allow folks to carry weapons inside without a CCW. IF you had a valid Nevada CCW (I used to) then provided it%26#39;s not obvious SOME casinos will allow you to wear it inside. To be absolutely clear, in your circumstances the answer invariably would be NO from the security staff.

Issue three is more philosophical: NEVER, EVER carry a weapon unless you fully intend to use it. An unloaded weapon does you NO GOOD in a life/death situation and you are not properly trained how to use it; you%26#39;re much better off without it.

Please don%26#39;t take offense, but I read this and it scared the s*** out of me! I forget I am living in America til something like this happens. Here in Maryland the hunting thing is very in your face but carrying in your car for safety? !! I agree with the last poster on his last point. But just out of curiousity what percentage of the American nation carry firearms in their cars?

States vary on their conceled carry laws.

As stated earlier, I had a CCW in LV. MANY states though allow the carry of firearms provided they are not concealed (the infamous gunrack in the truck) and/or unloaded.

AGAIN, this ain%26#39;t the UK or the rest of Europe. There ARE areas in the desert SW that I would not travel alone without a weapon. No I%26#39;m not a paranoid survivalist.

When entering Nevada - please make sure your gun is unloaded and the bullets are placed far enough away from the gun so that it cannot be considered within arms length of the pistol.

Also if you are approached by an officer - immediately inform him that you do have a weapon, that it is unloaded and exaclty where it is in the vehicle - DO NOT try retrieve it for him, don%26#39;t even move in the direction where the pistol is located.

My suggestion though - leave it at home. Thier have been no safety issues requiring a gun between Phoenix and Las Vegas.

with an issue as important as this one look at State of Nevada%26#39;s website and check out whether you can carry a weapon without a CCW permit issued by the State of Nevada. That should give you information on the laws for the state of nevada and if in doubt contact the state of nevada and get an ';official'; answer to your questions.

I would leave your weapon at home and invest in a cell phone. Drive during the daylight hours. And if you are very worried have a check in time that you contact someone back home and if you do not check in then they can contact the authorities along your scheduled route.

If you are going to bring a weapon for self-defense, carrying it unloaded would do you no good. In case of emergency, will you request the assailant to wait a couple of minutes for you to retreive your ammo and load the weapon?

The mere fact that you are suggesting bringing a defensive weapon unloaded suggests to me that you have not undergone appropriate Defensive Use Of Firearms training. In which case, you should not even think about carrying a weapon on your person or otherwise accessible in your car.

Without a CCW, you can lawfully carry an unloaded firearm in a locked container. I would use a locked case, and then lock that case in the trunk of the car. I do not recall if Nevada forbids you having ammo in that locked case or not, and I%26#39;ll try to look it up. But if you are carrying the gun for protection, it won%26#39;t do you any good locked up in the trunk (loaded or not).

Nevada is pretty good about issuing concealed carry permits (CCWs), even to non-residents. But you are going to Vegas for the first time, so I assume you don%26#39;t have a Nevada CCW. If you have a Nevada CCW, you can carry concealed in your vehicle. (Actually, even if you have a Nevada CCW, I believe that the Las Vegas Police require you to register any gun(s) you are going to carry in Vegas with them -- they will issue you a ';blue card';. That is in addition to the State requirements.)

I don%26#39;t recall if Nevada is an open carry state or not. I%26#39;ll try to check my resources to see what the rules are about ';open carry'; in the vehicle. My recollection -- no, I%26#39;ll try to check the rules instead of giving possible misinformation.

As to giving offense, I seem to recall that there are two things in the Constitution that might apply. First, the First Amendment protects offensive speech. Second, the Second Amendment says something about -- or did they repeal that one? I seem to recall the Courts and the politicians deciding that that one doesn%26#39;t count anymore. At least, not here in the People%26#39;s Republic of Kalifornia.

well Mike45LC i know you mean no offense and thank you for the info and just to let you and everyone else know i have taken self defense classes before. their is one main reason that i dont keep the loaded clip in the gun but that i am not going to discuss but it is the reason that i keep the gun unloaded when i travel with other people. i have been shooting now for about six years now and it only take%26#39;s just a second to put the clip in pull the slide but beleive me i know what you are saying about keeping it loaded and one in the chamber. any other info that you have on open carry would be greatly aprricated.

thanks

Well, I used to do as you do until I figured something out. I have survived 4 robberies both personal and walking into the wrong place at the wrong time. Each time I didn%26#39;t have a weapon at my disposal and probably would have died if I did have. I would recommend a cell phone or ';on star'; instead. The chances of you actually needing it is very small. The chance of it causing you headaches are better. The chance of getting it stolen are much greater.

Regarding the free speech issue another poster mentioned. While your post wasn%26#39;t offensive, this forum is like a club it is a privilege to post here, not a right. That%26#39;s why a certain individual gets kicked out of here over and over. If the first amendment applied here they would not be able to keep that person from offensive posting. But since it is a ';club'; they are free to dictate whatever guidelines they see fit. I hope this helps to clarify the situation.

Well i spent some of the day getting this information

In Arizona the gun can be in a case or a holster and be loaded but in plain sight

In Nevada the gun can be loaded and and concealed anywhere as long as your in a car

In vegas the gun and a loaded clip have to be seperate from each other so it can not be loaded

hope this help%26#39;s for someone with the same questions
