regarding credit cards at checking in

Not sure if this helps or not, but our room at NY NY was paid for, but we upgraded at check in. They charged the fee to our card the same day - we did not have any charges at check out. I don%26#39;t think you can stay in a room without a valid card...not sure though.

regarding credit cards at checking in

I assume your hotel is paid in advance. If you don%26#39;t have a credit card they will probably want a cash deposit for room charges. If you use up your deposit you may be locked out of your room. That used to be hotel policy in a lot of places anyway. You need to check with your hotel for their policy.

If you are traveling on a pre-paid plan, we do require a credit card or cash deposit a check-in for incidentals and security in case of damages to the room. If you provide a cc, we don%26#39;t charge it but do pre-authorize it. Cash deposit is returned at the end of your stay after any incidental charges have been deducted.

BIG NOTE - something that many do not know -

If you use a CC - your pre-authorization will be released by use the same day, but processing by merchant services and your credit card company can take up to 4 business days.

If you use a debit card with Visa/MC logo - we again release it at thehotel the day of your check out BUT for some reason a debit card can take upto 14 days to be processed and funds released.

I have yet to figure out the reason for the time differance, but this is one of our biggest problems.

Also, if you go online to check your statement after you have departed and see a charge or pre-authorization which you feel is not correct, thier is nothing that we can do about it UNTIL you recieve your actual monthly paper statement. This because of processing of your card that has yet to be completed. If the unknown charge still exists once you get your monthly paper statement - then we can review and adjust if a problem is found.

How much is the pre-authorization if I use my debit card?

Ceasers properties do not require a credit card like so many of the other properties do. They let you make the deposit for the first nights stay and you can pay the rest in cash. I assure you that I am correct on this because I emailed them dozens of times as well as paid cash with out having to make a deposit for incidentals. They just make a note on their computer that nothing can be charged to the room and deactivate the phone. If you dont want to get charges up the wazoo go with Ceaser properties they will do you right and wont jerk you around or empty your pockets with petty deposits. So check them out.

The amount pre-authorized varies from hotel to hotel. We hold on average $50 per day or $200 per week (5 days).

Hi Vegas Hotel Manager

looks like i could have a problem if i understand what`s bieng said my room has been paid for in advance on my wifes debit card but she`s not traveling with me .

what do you think .

thanks nigel

The only charge to my debit card was the upgrade. If they charged a room deposit to my card, it did not display, as all of my cash in the account was available throughout my stay. Hope this helps.

TK

thanks for that TK

Safest bet would be to call them and ask them this cause all diffrent hotels have diffrent policies. Your question could be answered by them and maybe it would put you at better easse.
