Curious as to why there is all the talk about the Orleans and not that much mentioned about Barbary Coast? Theyre both owned by the same company arent they? So it seems to me that the service and casinos would be very similar at both. But then there is the location of the Barbary right in the middle of the strip and the two great restaurants (so Ive heard) that are also inside the Barbary. The room prices are really close if not the same. Am I missing something here? Is the Barbary a dump or something? My wife and I are thinking of staying at the Barbary in a couple of months. This will be our first trip to Vegas, do you think Barbary Coast is a mistake?
Orleans over Barbary?
yes they are both owned by boyd,
your not missing anything, many like both casinos.
orleans gets talked about more more due to its larger size, great rooms for the price, cocktail waitress, food, attractions, etc.
maybe 10x the rooms,
have gret trip at barbary coast.
Orleans over Barbary?
If you go to Barbary Coast in a few months, the biggest drawback is that it doesn%26#39;t have a swimming pool. I%26#39;ve enjoyed gambling there, but never stayed there. Sounds okay though by all accounts I%26#39;ve read.
BC is a small hotel and casino in a great location, while Orleans is a huge ';everything under one roof'; kind of place. There is a free shuttle running back and forth between the two.
My sister stayed at BC over Christmas, her room was huge %26amp; she got a great price. I thought it would be a dump but it was actually really nice. If you don%26#39;t mind not having a pool I wouldstay there, you can%26#39;t beat the location. The parking ramp is terrifying though.
thanks for the help. I think we%26#39;ll book the room. We don%26#39;t plan on swimming, just party and gamble.
Sounds perfect for you then, and I can%26#39;t imagine a better location for anyone%26#39;s first trip to LV. Ask for a room with a view; Bellagio%26#39;s fountains are just across the strip. I think ';Big Elvis'; is still playing in the lounge, and you definitely don%26#39;t want to miss him! Enjoy.
Both are owned by the same company. Just like Mercury and Jaguar are both owned by Ford Motors. Which would you rather have? Orleans is 10 years old. Barbary Coast is 25 years old. 15 years makes a big difference in quality of a hotel. The rooms at the Orleans are bigger, for the same or lower price. Orleans has a pool, Movie Theater, Bowling alley. Only thing the Barbary has that%26#39;s better than the Orleans is location. And that is debatable.
For first-time visitors to Vegas, heck yes Barbary Coast has the better location! For grizzled Vegas veterans with a %26#39;been there done that%26#39; attitude toward the strip, the better amenities at Orleans makes a lot of sense. Personally, I%26#39;d rather hit the bricks in the middle of what makes Vegas famous, although as a pool guy I%26#39;d likely move next door to Bally%26#39;s or Flamingo.
If you want strip location, book the Barbary. If you want to stay in a hotel for cheap but feeling like a higher roller, go to the Orleans. That%26#39;s the difference.
I stayed at the Barbary Coast in late February. The rooms were clean. The coffee shop has excellent food at a reasonable price in addition to the 2 premium restaurants. If you don%26#39;t want a pool or other resort amenities, I think it%26#39;s perfect for a first time visitor.
Although I barely gamble, I am considered a ';Grizzly Vegas Vet'; and I of course stayed at The Orleans less than 3 weeks ago. Not as good as it used to be, but due to conventions, the South Strip hotels were charging $200 a night and the Orleans charged me $60 Since I never get comped, I go for the lowball rate. THe property is huge, the FUn Book has usable coupons including Drinks Drinks Drinks (I don%26#39;t drink much either)
They have a free shuttle, if the shuttle is unavailable, the 201 bus across takes you to THe Trop in 20 mins for a $1.25
