no vacancy on 17th march

Hi, i will be arriving in Vegas on the 17th (from Europe) and are looking for a hotel. We want to drive to the parks and visit Vegas at the end of our holiday.

The problem is that all hotels seem to full on this date. I found out that there is a big convention, st. patricksday, sports etc.

My question is: does anybody has experience if there will be last minute rooms available when we arrive in the evening, or is there a city nearby where we can drive to (we already rented a car and will be travelling to Zion NP.

thanks

I heard many say on this board book before you come to Vegas otherwise be prepared to pay upwatds of $2-300 for a crappy room or worse no room at all.

$2-$300 is being a bit overly optimistic. Try off the traditional tourist area (Strip and DT).

Are you going for just one night?

Try looking for a room in Laughlin. It%26#39;s just an hour and a half from LV( i think), and the rooms there are cheap but the hotels are pretty nice.

Joop.

You are not going to find many open places in Las Vegas. Since you are headed to Utah already, your best bet will be to stay in Mesquite that first night. Try using yahoo or Google. The two big hotel/casinos there are the Oasis And Casa Blanca.

I wish you the best on your vakantie (I hope I spelled that right, I can speak a little Dutch, but never learned to spell any).

Joe

As VM indicated, Mesquite north of town and Boulder City between Las Vegas and Hoover Dam. Those are our overflow cities.

Thanks, i will look at the bookingsites and otherwise go first to the tourist office and if there are no vacancies i will make some calls to Mesquite of Boulder city.

ps. vegasman your dutch is fluent so far :)

I use to enjoy a town out side of Amsterdam called Zeist (I think it%26#39;s how you spell it) Loved the area - most friendly people I ever met - Hope we can provide the same in return during your visit.

Joop,

Thanks, my parents are from Holland. My mom grew up in Schoonhoven, not far from Rotterdam. And my dad is from Anna Palouwna, not near anything. Most of my relatives still live there.

Joe

Nice to know so many have been in Holland. Only been in NY once so i am curious to see another part of the country.

By the way Zeist is only 10 minutes from Bilthoven, the place where i live. I work in Amsterdam. small world..
