Dollar Rental car- any thing Good about them?

I have heard many negatives on Dollar Rental Car almost enough to scar us off. We want the trip to go smoothly and have to have a van. I don%26#39;t think it is worth the extra $350. for 13 days with Hertz What rental services have others had good luck with.

there has been a lot of talk about renting vehicles

the las couple of days. the best bet seemed to be

alamo. i%26#39;m not sure about van cost though.

check out websites to compare.

I personally have had a bad time with National / Alamo. I feel there ';sales'; people were very rude at the Vegas location, they only cared about he bottom line and trying to make you pay more on top of what you may have already paid.

I had better luch in Vegas with Thrifty. Their car selection was better than N /A and their people were more curtious.

I also question what is the best way to rent a car. If you purchase with your flight / hotel on line or through another source other than the rental company, the rental company seems to want to stick you with fees and taxes that were not included when you booked. i.e. we were charged over $100 in fees and taxes once we arrived in Vegas on our last trip and we did not take their insurance!!!!

if going before 5/31/05 try alamo-- here is the promo codes for the northwest airlines promotion i got. works misdize thru SUV

coupon code DC4B

ID 7000678

if you decide to use this you%26#39;ll need to sign up for a worldperks frequent flier card (no charge if i recall correctly) and make sure you go to the NWA website and get the ';coupon';--which i think is a link under ';promotions'; or under ';worldperks'; tab

I%26#39;ve used Dollar both times I%26#39;ve rented in Vegas, usually it%26#39;s only for 1-2 days and not my entire trip. I%26#39;ve had no problems with them either time. I booked online before getting to town and picked up my car from the hotel I was staying at. I think the rate is around 18-19/day, but I%26#39;ve never tried to rent a van from them. Also, whatever time you say you want to pick it up ... that%26#39;s what time you can get it. I tried to get our car 15 mins early and was told to come back at 9. Other than that, no problems at all. They were the cheapest and have always been in the hotel that we%26#39;ve stayed at.

Hi,

I have a reservation from Dollar for 3/6-3/10. I used the code SR2000 and received a fullsize car for 75.96 with all the taxes and whatnot it came to 112.94. That was an upgrade from a intermediate. There are simular savings for smaller cars.

We rented a mini van on 2/14 for 2 days from Dollar and it was great. No problems we just reserved it before we went and picked it up at our hotel ( Sahara ) they happen to have a place in the hotel. Would recommend.

Good Luck! %26amp; Have Fun!!

I just went to nwa%26#39;s website and used the promotional code in the above post and got quoted for a convertable 284.00 but then I went to www.dollar.com and got quoted 262.00....it was cheaper to go directly through the website. Some perks for traveling northwest...I too signed up for world perks..and from what I see you actually pay more not less.

For nearly every car rental company, the best deals will be on their website. Also, You want to ALWAYS save time getting and returning your rig? Join their ';frequent renter'; program even if you%26#39;re only renting once. You get to wait in the short (or no) line and get preferential treatment as far as cars go. the Dollar ';Fastlane'; card worked great for me a coule weeks ago in Reno. I prefer National in LV, as you have the opportunity to pick ANY car in the category you are renting, not just take the one they give you. I like that.

As for the alamo promotion-

I got an intermediate for a 11 days at $204 using the NW promo code (that includes all taxes and renting at airport.) and booked directly through Alamo%26#39;s website.

I am not sure a convertible works for this promo...the only info the coupon states is midsize thru SUV. (not sure where vans and convertibles fit on that list). from what i recall it (website) indicates which one the coupon works on.

If going before end of March--alamo also has promo rates for Las vegas but the fine print of the coupon has an expiration date--which for some reason the system let me book with even though it was expired but later the system caught the error and the rate was corrected.

i have not had a problem with ANY of the major rental car companies in vegas, but Dollar is running a Vegas only special on minivans, which i just used, and was very happy with everything. Click on SPECIALS on thier website and it puts in the special code for you.
