Booking your room via the hotel web site

Got a question.....

So I go on to the web site of the hotel that I want to stay at

and i want to book my room.

Does it ask for payment info and do you pay for it right away,

or does it ask for payment info and your CC wont get debited

till you check out,

or is all you do is just reserve a room for you for the time

specified.

I dont want to pay for a room now that I wont be seeing till june or july.

Booking your room via the hotel web site

They charge your credit card for the first night only when you make your reservation. This way, if you fail to show up, they are not stiffed on the payment.

Booking your room via the hotel web site

It is the same as calling. You will have to give your card number, and it is billed instantly. Only way to get it back is to cancel within policy guidelines (48-to-72 hours prior to arrival), otherwise they will keep it.

shuttles and monorails

Can anyone help me out. I am interested in knowing where the shuttles and monorails are in Vegas. We are going in April. We would like to know some alternatives to the bus and taxis. Thanks!

shuttles and monorails

Try this site...

http://www.goingtovegas.com/index.htm#menu

shuttles and monorails

There is the LVMonorail (Lvmonorail.com) that runs from the MGM to the Sahara with several stops in between. $3 per ride, 1 Day $10 and 3 day $25 passes are available. As well as 10 rides for $20. There is a Tram that runs between Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay, that is free to ride. And another tram (Curently closed) that runs between Monte Carlo and Bellagio.

Google is a good place to start you might find http://www.lvmonorail.com/ if you search ';las vegas monorail';.

Off-strip hotels like Rio, Orleans, Suncoast, GVR have free shuttles that go to thier sister hotels on the strip, you will find that info on each individual hotel web sites. Most just run every thirty minutes.

There is a trolley that runs around the strip, but you can go google it yourself, not many people use it because it is very slow.

Most other shuttles are from airport to hotel. Cheapest way up and down the strip, and downtown is CAT (bus) 301 and 302.

  • Anyone know of a cheap golf course in Las Vegas?

I need tee times for a group of 12 on March 26 and would like to definitely pay under $100. Any suggestions?

Anyone know of a cheap golf course in Las Vegas?

You will not get a nice course for that price unless you get a twilight rate. Try Las Vegas Paiute indian reservation (the best in the area I think) or one of the Stallion Mountain courses.

Anyone know of a cheap golf course in Las Vegas?

Black Mtn is one of my faves in that price range....

Is Black Mountain a 18-hole course (not a par 3)?

Black Mountain has 3 9 hole courses.

    http://www.teetimesinlasvegas.com/blackmt.htm

    Info for Black Mountain.

    teetimesinlasvegas.com/LasVegasGolfMap.htm

    For all Las Vegas courses.

There%26#39;s one in North Las Vegas on Craig Road between Martin Luther King %26amp; Commerce that%26#39;s advertised for like $20. I can%26#39;t tell you if it%26#39;s any good or not, I just drive past it on the way to the bar.

Yep - Black Mtn recently opened a 3rd nine. Beautiful views of the mountains. This is the course that Tiger caddied for his Stanford roommate a few years back.

The one on Craig Rd is the Craig Ranch Golf Course. JMHO, but if you want to play cheap just for the sake of playing, this place is it. I played there once and that was enough - tee boxes needed work, fairways are tight (run parallel to each other) and very spotty and greens were hard as a rock. Place is close to Nellis AFB, so the scenery is ';interesting';. Definitely a beginners course - 6000 yards with a 64.6 rating (from the whites).

My husband and sons just returned this past week from golfing in Las Vegas. They golfed at Silverstone, which might be the one the other post is referring to in North Las Vegas. It was about a 30 minute drive out. They started golfing at 12 noon on Sunday and paid $85 per person. If they had waited until 2 p.m. it would have been $25, but they couldn%26#39;t get 18 holes in. The other one that they golfed at was Rhodes Ranch. They started there on Monday at 11 a.m. and paid $85 per person. They have a sister course called Angel Park, I believe also where my husband has golfed. You can find both of these courses by google.com

Tuscany in Henderson is excellent. After 10:30 green fee and cart is $55 for non residents, otherwise $75.

Which hotel has the best pool?

    er thats it...thanks in advance.

Which hotel has the best pool?

of all the pools i%26#39;ve been too, i thought the hard rock was the best.

Which hotel has the best pool?

All depends on what you like in a pool. Mandalay and maonte Carlo have wave pools. Kind of like being in the ocean, but with cleaner water. MGM and Monte Carlo have Lazy rivers. Grab a float and go round and round in circles. Mandalay and Caesar%26#39;s Palace have European Style bathing areas. Women are allowed to go topless. Flamingo, Mirage and Rio%26#39;s pools have waterfalls. Flamingo%26#39;s pool has waterslides for the kids. Hard Rock and Palms pools are reported to have the best looking 20 somethings hanging around.

My three favorites, in order are:

    Caesar%26#39;s Palace

    Mandalay Bay

    Mirage

    Mandalay Bay

moorea beach club and mandalay bay would be my top

I%26#39;m always amazed that people pick MB. Personally I have never seen a busier poolside area, you need to get there early to get a lounger and then you%26#39;ll be lucky if there%26#39;s more that a couple of feet between you and the stranger next to you (even less by the wave pool !).

If you want to relax by the pool then no way MB.

    mandalay bay, mirage, caesars

The RIO is very underrated in my opinion.

I think they have 3-4 pools with waterfalls. One of the pools has a man-made beach, but the sand is VERY hot. There are 3 whirlpools with waterfalls. You will have no problem finding a lounge chair. The grill has excellent drinks and food. The whole layout is very spacious and so uncrowded.

Agree with Mandalay Bay! If you go there, rent a cabana for the day - it was well worth the $$

Anyone know if TI guests can go to the Mirage pool?

Mac King Magic Show at Harrahs

Saw this show over the weekend. Very, very good! I have seen Lance Burton and David Copperfield and would rank Mac higher based on the price. The show is only $18.95. You will not spend a better $19 in all of vegas. Trust me it is worth it. He has 2 shows each day...at 1 %26amp; 3. The show was very funny as well.

Mac King Magic Show at Harrahs

i am with you , best show in town for the money , great for all ages

a lot of 241 out there we paid 24.50 for three,

best to get there 30 min b4

with many of his tricks cards, goldfish, etc. its best to tip for up close center,

we were there on slow day showroom was maybe 25-30 % full

Mac King Magic Show at Harrahs

We saw him last summer. Great show. If you sign up for players card at harrahs i believe they give you 2 comp tickets if you buy a drink a person. Well worth it.

Yes, that is true, sign up for rewards or stay at harrahs and you get the tickets for free. Good show, family oriented but with some %26#39;s e x%26#39; funny talk as well....enjoyed it....

    Shuttle to Rio

Does anyone know what hotel has the shuttle to and from the Rio

    Shuttle to Rio

Harrahs has a shuttle. It runs 24 hours a day and boards at Harrahs by the valet service. It picks up at Rio by the Carnival World Buffet.

    Shuttle to Rio

Wow, they drive through the casino to pick you up?? How convenient ;-)

Is the Palms within walking distance from Rio? It looks like it is on a map, but those Vegas maps are quite deceptive sometimes!

    Dawn,

Palms is across the Street and down maybe 200 yards from the Rio. It is actually across Flamingo from the Gold Coast.

easiest way into the hot clubs???

how do you get into the hot clubs with out standing in line...on Vegas.com they offer something called front of line passes...do they work?

looking to go to the following Rain, Ghost as we are staying at the Palm, Rum Jungle and Tabu...

are some nights better than others, for some of these?

Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...its our first time to vegas and want to do as much as possible and get it right.

easiest way into the hot clubs???

Yes, either get a front of line pass or VIP table. And yes, they work. My wife and I have never had to wait in line with these passes, even on crowded Saturday nights, and have never had any problems with being on the list. Vegas.com is very good, as is travelnice.com. There is overlap of the clubs they cover, but they each have passes for some clubs the other doesn%26#39;t have - I would check out both places.

As for nights - Rain has something called ';Drenched Thursdays,'; but I%26#39;m not sure what that is. EDEN night (Tuesday) at Studio 54 is good - the entertainment (suspended over the dance floor) is really impressive, and very sexy. Tabu is good pretty much any night - I don%26#39;t think they have any specials. Hope this helps...

easiest way into the hot clubs???

it does...thanks so much!!! we are very confused with all there is to do, and looking to get as much wild partying in as possible!

Looking to refresh question to see i get more responses...

Vegas.com line passes definetly work..and i highly recommend. Wife and I used them in feb for Studio 54, Rain, Ra. Each club had very long lines. You can walk right up front and your name will be on the guest list. NO PROBLEMS.

you don%26#39;t need a line pass for rumjungle just a late dinner reservation. The restaurant turns into a nightclub after dinner. Just ask for the latest time for reservation. P.S.-don%26#39;t order anything expensive. I thought the food was average at best, but the club was right in line with a high energy club in LA, NYC, Miami and Big D (of course)

  • Las Vegas for Teens

Getting married while in Vegas the week of June 19-25, and bringing our 17 year old daughter. Looking for suggestions on a things to do in Vegas for a week, and best hotel for a family.

    Las Vegas for Teens

What does she and you like doing together? Movies? Bowling? Shopping? Nothing?

    Las Vegas for Teens

If she%26#39;s the typical 17 year old, it would be the latter.

We%26#39;ve taken our daughter to Vegas four times and she loves it, she%26#39;s 14. Some of our favorite hotels to see are Stratosphere, Venetian (the wax museum is there also), Caesar%26#39;s Palace forum shops and statue show, The Hard Rock Hotel (and Cafe) and Rio (the sky parade is a nice free show). Freemont Street is also fun (and free). We always stay at Excalibur because the price is reasonable and we like that end of the Strip best. Even though we can%26#39;t gamble with her around we all have a great time.

    Thanks to all for responding.

tlb64 - I%26#39;m sure she would like all of your suggestions... plus we%26#39;ve invited a girlfriend of hers to come along so she%26#39;ll have someone her age to hang with.

Don%26#39;t underestimate hanging at the pool. That%26#39;s something they could do together.

Orleans is reasonable and has a movie theater, bowling alley, and other nongambling activities for the kids. The only potential drawback is that it%26#39;s offstrip. There%26#39;s a big arcade and also a movie theater close to MGM, and they have a good pool.

  • Can you bring Liqour

I wasnt 100% sure if you could pack liqour in your checked luggage or your carry on i was thinking of bring 2 or three bottles to last me for the week.

    Can you bring Liqour

Never tried it. I usually buy it when I get there.

What if the bottles broke and all your clothes smelled like booze! :-(

    Can you bring Liqour

There is definitely no issues with domestic flights. Make sure you pack it with a lot of protection.

You can pack and check liquor - generally speaking - (I do not advise carrying on any liquor - bad experience back in 1999 flight to the Sugar Bowl- the Crown Bottles were a%26#39; Flyin!)

There are ';state'; liquor laws that may prohibit interstate transfer but as the Vagas vacationer for personal consumption - you should have no problems - at the airport (Packed and Checked Luggage ).

Hotels have a right to charge a ';cork%26#39;ing'; charge or fee and can prohibit you from bringing in outside bottles. They may charge you a fee for outside bottles! there is a whole list of %26#39;things they can do%26#39; but reality is if you bring a bottle of Champagne, wine, or liter of whisky, you are going to be o.k. There is always the breakage issue mentioned above but even if you buy liquor on the strip or in Vegas, you are going to %26#39;officialy%26#39; be subject to the hotel charge issue.

Don%26#39;t worry - bring what you want - pack it well - otherwise buy it in vegas and have a great time.

    WOW, hotels actually do that?!

We always bring beer and wine to our room and keep in the fridge or a cooler and never had any problems. Pretty much do it wherever we go on vacation.

I would be really upset if I was charged for this and probably would NOT stay at that hotel again.

This is the second time I%26#39;ve heard someone say a hotel can charge a corkage fee. That is B.S. A restaurant can charge this if you decide to bring a bottle of your favorite vintage along for dinner. But a hotel can not charge you for what you consume in your room, or in their lobby as far as that goes. As long as you are 21 years or older you can drink as much as you want no matter where you bought it. But if you are drunk and obnoxious security may escort you to your room, or out of the hotel if you%26#39;re not a guest.

    Thanks, VM. You%26#39;re the best!!!!

I was starting to get a little nervous. LOL

Don%26#39;t want to get in trouble!!!

There are ';Travelers'; bottles you can buy.... fifths of whatever in blastic bottles instead of glass. that is the way to go if you want to carry on if you ask me.

I am going to take Vegas man%26#39;s advise and instead of paying $300 for a bottle of Absolute at RA or Curve, I am just going to pay my $20 cover, and walk through with my liter of Grey Goose! My Brother will carry the Igloo full of Becks!

When they try to stop me I will refer them to this forum thread.

    Thanks Vegas Man!

Weljef, your last response fails to appreciate the difference between a hotel and a restaurant or club. The hotel cannot charge a guest a ';corkage'; charge for the booze that the guest consumes in his/her room. The restaurant (or in your example, club) can forbid you from bringing it in and/or can impose a service charge.

Bar16, I would not bother to drag any bottles with me, unless there was something special that I couldn%26#39;t buy at a normal liquor store. For the normal brands of booze, I%26#39;d just buy in Vegas. Too much trouble to drag the bottles with me (and risk breakage); you think Jersey prices are a heck of a lot better than Vegas prices? I don%26#39;t even bother to buy booze duty-free in the Caribbean any more (unless it is something I can%26#39;t buy at home) -- to save $5 on a bottle, I%26#39;m going to drag it thousands of miles? No, thanks.

    Wel,

I see you%26#39;re from Tejas, home of the Drive-Thru liquor stores. Explains a LOT. ;-) As I said, lobby or room, not a nightclub. You might want to get a bigger Stetson next time, me thinks your current on is a bit tight.

question about flying with bmi from manchester airport.

hi i wonder if anyone can help. i am flying with bmi to vegas in june and was wondering if anyone can let me know the seating plan for economy class.

the reason i%26#39;m asking is because my fiance is 6ft 4 and prefers an aisle seat but i like a window seat so i was wondering if the planes to vegas with bmi have only the two seats near the window or whether it is 3 like those when flying in europe. if it were 2 it would mean we both got our way. ive done a bit of research and it does seem there are 2 seats , then a gap, then 3 seats, a gap again then another 2 but i just want someone to confirm this.

    thanks

Ray, best bet is to contact the airline. Sorry dont have first hand info, we fly from Edinburgh. All the best.

question about flying with bmi from manchester airport.

    Try this site....

    http://seatguru.com

we have flown bmi to vegas on several occasions the seating plan is two on each side and four in the middle.bmi are good to fly with, we have tried united,aa, virgin and us airways and bmi are the best of them.

config usually on bmi is 2/4/2

seats are usually ac defg hk

Hi just travelled with BMI to Vegas in Feb. Seats 2-4-2. Great flight lots of freebies, bottled water, headphones, socks, toothbrush, pen etc. Be warned the check-in/security queue at Manchester airport is very long. We had to wait over a hour, so get there early.

    hi

thanks for all your help. that seems great being a 2/4/2.

    thanks again

    gemma and ray

Here%26#39;s another tip. Go to checkmytrip.com and enter your booking reference number (usually 6 letters and numbers) and surname in the boxes. Details of your flight reservations should show. Click on the plus sign and it will expand to show some useful information including your seat numbers if they have been allocated. Click on the seat number and you can look at a seat map of the plane and see where they are. If you want to change your seat allocations, just get onto BMI or your travel agent and ask.

(But maybe wait until tomorrow - the seat map system looks to be down just at the moment)

Sorry, they canceled the show on Thursday to use the theatre for a Latin concert, going to try again this Thursday!!!

Saw this last night. Three words.

    Classic rock. Beer. Breasts.

If that sounds like a match made in heaven for you, then you will love it.

If you want something more artistic go to see La Femme.

Not for everyone. Some crowds will love it. Some will be totally turned off.

    can u be more specific?

    do they have clothes on?

is it all music or more of a ';show';.

do the girls go into the audience?

    are there any guys?

    thanks,

  • $60 tickets for Mystere

    Hi All

I am looking at booked tickets for the above, 10.30 an a Saturday night.

For $60 the seats are Nos 1 %26amp; 2 on Row AA in block 201. If you imagine a letter U, they would be right at the top of the left hand side. Are these seats going to be very restricted viewing or will they be OK.

    Thanks

    Neil

    $60 tickets for Mystere

I%26#39;ve researched these tickets and apparently, they are great. Lots of good reviews on this site. I%26#39;ll be going there in a few weeks. You cant get a better deal so dont worry

    $60 tickets for Mystere

Usually restricted views means you sit by a pillar and can%26#39;t see the whole stage. At Mystere a restricted view means you don%26#39;t see the performers head on, you see them from the side. So, if this is not a big concern for you, go for the lower priced tickets.

    Hi Neil

This was a concern of mine too when we looked at exactly the same seats. As posts on here say there are no bad seats for Mystere, I bit the bullet and ordered them. We will see it on 22 April.

    Hi Luci5,

We will see it on 23rd April as we do arrive until 16.30 on the 22nd!

Hope the seats are OK for us.

    Neil

    1 and 2 cent slots? 20 line ,50 line?

do they have a lot of 1 and 2 cent slots in LV? where are best places for them? how about Prim, we might stay there. We are from MN and used ti indian casinos and have not been to LV in about 10 yr. (indians take all our gaming money!!) WE are looking forward to trip and havent set date yet but probably in May or sept oct.

    1 and 2 cent slots? 20 line ,50 line?

They can be found in Vegas. Stardust, Orleans, Ellis Island, Gold Coast, Suncoast is an incomplete list of casinos that have them.

    1 and 2 cent slots? 20 line ,50 line?

I think I saw some 1 and 2 cent slots at NYNY.

They seem to be everywhere. I played them at Monte Carlo, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Imperial Palace and several others last month. But bear in mind, if you play max credits those penny and 2 cent slots aren%26#39;t cheap! Many are 30 lines, 20 credits per line--per spin!

    Eek.

I%26#39;ve played them at Belagio and CP. I won $25 at Belagio and about $15 at CP on the one that had a Lobster theme. I think I started with about $5 in the slot machine. Lots of fun for the $.

$174 on one spin on a penny slot at Stardust, within 10 mins of walking in the door! Hadn%26#39;t even checked into the hotel!

thanks all you people for the info.....i already know they can be expensive cuz thats what i play in MN. but you can win a lot on the ones that give bonus games....FUN is what its about.

The only place I didn%26#39;t see 1 and 2 cent slots was the Trop. I also didn%26#39;t see 50 line machines. There was a 40-line with a truck theme in a few casinos but I didn%26#39;t play it.

LEO21 thanks for the info..I will not gamble at the Trp I guess .

it sounds like there will be enough everywhere else though. I will not play these machines exclusively but will most of the time. I am surprized they dont have 50 line cuz we have a lot of them here and they did try hundred liners for a short time but they didnt go over very well. most here are 20 line but some of the 20 liners you can play 50 credits per line. Anyway thx again and good luck on your next slot venture.

I am staying on the Queen Mary from 5/1 until 5/3. As I am coming from Scotland, Could someone tell me the cheapest, quickest way to get to Universal Studios. Also, I%26#39;ve heard that if you buy a day ticket, it covers you for a visit the next day,. Is that correct?

    Universal Studios

You do know that those are both in CA?? Try the Los Angeles, Long Beach or Hollywood forums.

    Universal Studios

Universal Studios, huh? They are located in Orlando and LA area. What coast are you referring too? Vegas is in the middle of a desert not far from LA.

Very sorry, its my first time, and I posted it in the wrong forum. Humblest apologies.

    Q about MC

    Anyone stayed at MC lately?

Do they have coupons etc. for their spa or dinning that they will give you at checkin if you ask.

I do not see any freebees like that from them where as most other casinos seem to be giving them out if u book at their site.

    Q about MC

we stayed there 1/28-1/31 and didnt get any coupons..we didnt ask but i really doubt if they would give you discounts on the spa or the dining.

is it just me or is vegas getting really cheap?

now its all on your cards they say, yeah right...

    any similar experiences out there?

    comps!mwhat comps??

    Where did you play?

I have heard this before but it often comes from people going to Bellagio, Caesar%26#39;s, Venetian, Mandalay, etc.

They are NOT your ';old'; vegas and the exact reason I won%26#39;t play there.

    Lyle

    comps!mwhat comps??

Do you have a Casino Host that helps you with the hotel bookings? Do you know the dealers and the Floor Supervisor for your gambling game area? more and more...just playing $50/hands for 4 hours isn%26#39;t going to cut it anymore. You will have to get to know the people that work there and ask them how you are doing with your play to recieve the various comps you are looking for. But then again....don%26#39;t gamble just to get comped.

    Linn,

There used to be a lot more leeway in deciding how much comps to give someone. Now with corporations running casinos, rather than guys with funny noses and even funnier names, the bottom line is watched more closely. You don%26#39;t see the CEO walking out the back door with the days profits anymore.

One more thing, the $50 you spent at Wal Mart or Maceys, doesn%26#39;t get you today what it did 3 years ago. Why should it get you the same in Vegas?? So, I guess that answers your question, both Vegas and you are getting cheap.

  • AHH going to vegas and only 20, HELP!!!

Hows it going, a buddy and I are 20 and are able to go to vegas for cheap over spring break. I was looking on line and pretty much all clubs and whatnot are 21+. Is there any nightlife for 18 and up. Where to meet ladies if not at clubs. If not what to do if only 20. Comment would be greatly apprecited. Thanks,

AHH going to vegas and only 20, HELP!!!

    EZ,

I believe the correct term is SOL (Ship Outta Luck or something close to that). Not much you%26#39;ll be able to do but walk around and look at everyone else having fun. Bars, gambling, clubs, even watching the games in the sportsbooks are all things you won%26#39;t be able to do.

What you can do is eat, shop, movies, pool, sightsee and people watch. Next year you%26#39;ll be able to have a lot more fun.

    Joe

AHH going to vegas and only 20, HELP!!!

Lasvegas.com has a blurb on their site called 21 things to do if under 21 yrs. old.

    VHM,

    I wouldn%26#39;t know.

    Joe

Also if anyone else in similair situation ';ladies?'; please get back to me.

Go walking down the strip, listen for the ';flick, flick'; and hold your hand out !

Our ';guest workers'; will give you a flyer on a little something for you and your friend to do !

    deaconblues,

Although they are old enough for the cards, even the provider is going to card them. I still suggest they just do what I mentioned above. Just one good kick. It would be better than going to Vegas at 20.

    Sam Boyd Stadium

I need to be at that stadium early (7 am) on Mon morning (5/9) for business. What is the best transportation option. I%26#39;m only in town for 3 nights and I really dont want to rent a car. If a cab is my only option how much from Aladdin to Boyd?

    Sam Boyd Stadium

Cab will get you there and rather quickly, just a Straight shot down Tropicana. You can also take the City bus. Route 201 runs close to the Stadium. The 6:05 bus will drop you off within walking distance of the stadium at 6:41 According to this schedule.

    rtcsouthernnevada.com/cat/…schedule.htm

    Sam Boyd Stadium

    Thanks again Joe

I just called the Caddy dealer...and color preference?

    Nsane,

Well, if you can afford to buy strangers a Cadillac I guess I should have mentiones the Helicopter option out to Sam Boyd Stadium.

    Tattoos

Was wondering if any Las Vegas locals knew of a good tattoo salon. Just a clean place, that does decent work at a decent price. Thanks

    Tattoos

    Is there any?

    Tattoos

I think theres a new place in the Palms Casino(dont know the name of it....Every year I say i%26#39;M GONNA DO IT(get a tat) never do...always chicken out!!!!I%26#39;m pretty sure theres a place at the Palms...It should be clean!!!!Price wise ...Maybe......

I have not priced them, as I don%26#39;t really know what to ask for. I%26#39;m not a tattoo type person. But the H%26amp;H tattoo parlor inside the Palms I bet will be the most expensive in town. Imagine what they have to pay in rent compared to your average tattoo parlor. That extra cost has to be passed along to the customer. Get your tattoo elsewhere and buy a $30 T-shirt here and say you got your tat there.

Yeah, I wish I could think of an interesting tattoo design to get and a good location on my body to get it....if I could I would probably jump on the idea while in Las Vegas. Those with tattoos.... where do you have them and what kinds of unique designs do you have?

I saw two tattoo parlors down by the Strat but I don%26#39;t know what there prices were

Dunno if a Vegas trip would be a good time to get a tat, Sun, swimming and hot tubs would have to be avoided with a fresh tat.

Just had mine finished, one month of healing time before I land in Vegas:-) It%26#39;s a dog paw with my flag (UK) inside the pads, I love it!

I agree with Bodacious, while it may sound like a cool idea, it%26#39;s not. When you get a fresh tat, no swimming or suntanning until it heals (you get a scab the size of you tat, can take 1-2 weeks to fully heal). Plus, with a fresh tat, you need to wash it 3-4 times a day and apply a moisturizer. Basically, if you get a tat in Vegas, nobody will be able to see it and you get to walk around (but no pools or sun) with a scab (big tat == big scab). Fun ;)

Wow.... I knew nothing about tattoos, and glad I mentioned it. I won%26#39;t be getting one in Vegas since I don%26#39;t want to have to tend to it or avoid pools and sun. I guess I don%26#39;t have to be cool afterall.

Very good point Motor except for the water. You should keep it out of the sun but its not a hard fast rule. The sun will however make it hurt worse than it already does. Tanning should be avoided but you can cover it with gauze. But... one rule is absolute with most quality shops... you get what you pay for !!!

Keep in mind that its permanant. If you want to get a tat its best to get references from people you know or meet that have artwork you like and dont ever shop for price. One more thing cyber... its addictive. I started my habit 20 years ago and you should see me now.

Comps to shows and events !

We just scored two tickets to the Nascar race this weekend, skybox seats, life is GOOD !!!!

Other locals have happy stories like this ?

The great thing about living in Vegas is

In the past year I%26#39;ve received comped tickets to We Will Rock you and Mama Mia. 2 years ago I got Luxury Box Seats to the NFR. But the BEST thing about living in Vegas is the Weather. Well, except for those 10 BRUTAL weeks in the summer where the mercury never drops below 90.

The great thing about living in Vegas is

I%26#39;d take those brutal months of heat over what i%26#39;m looking at right now-gray skies and more snow coming down--dont know how much longer I can take the snow!! ugh its cold and awful here. I miss the sun!! Seasonal disorder at its worst right now!!! yuk yuk yuk forecast is 3 more inches...greeeaaaaat.

    Queen,

I see your point, at least sunshine is a heck of a lot easier to shovel than snow.

    Joe

Vegasman... you are right (as usual) about the weather there...I don%26#39;t live there but have been to Vegas on different times of the year and love the weather!! Late March early April is my favorite time over there.. even summer..yeah it may get over 100, but low to no humidity is better than 100%+ humidity like we have here in the New Orleans. You haven%26#39;t seen brutal until you experience a summer in THE BIG EASY!

and Cynda...I wish I was going too!....Have a great time!! Go DaleJr!!!

    Luvbichons,

I%26#39;m coming up on my first summer as a Floridian. Not quite sure what to expect....other than HOT! Winter%26#39;s been beautiful. Thanksgiving day was 80 degrees!;-o Very weird!!!

I%26#39;m from the northeast, so it%26#39;s taking some getting used to.

Vegas will probably feel COOL when we go in June. LOL

I love Vegas, but could never even think of living there. There are tooo many temptations for me. I%26#39;m too weak.. I actually love living in New England and visiting Vegas. It%26#39;s a special place for me.

I don%26#39;t know - after this winter, I%26#39;d be willing to move!!!! Yesterday we had wind chills of -10 degrees. Brrrrr.....

I was in Vegas one August when the temp hit 113 degress and it was still preferable ove the humidity here in the summer.

    Celine?

Anyone seen Celine Dion%26#39;s new show? I know maybe not the coolest show to see, but hey while we are in Vegas we may as well see what%26#39;s on offer. Worth the money?????

    thanks

    Celine?

From a personal view - yes. I have seen the show several times, (and I am not a die hard fan). My husband is not keen on her but he thought the show was fabulous - entertaining, her voice and the music were crystal clear. Went again January just gone with 2 gal pals. 1 friend is Celine mad, the other said %26#39;if she sings the theme from Titanic I am walking out%26#39; - not a fan! But she stayed for the duration, thought the show was excellent and was pleased she had gone. It is an experience, and if the show was poor then Ceasars would not have extended her contract. Give it a try.

    Celine?

Thanks. It is nice to hear that those who are not diehard fans enjoyed the show. I think we shall give it a try.

My husband, son who is 31 yrs. old and I all went to see her last March. I%26#39;m a big fan of hers but my husband and son weren%26#39;t all that thrilled about going. They would rather be gambling or golfing!! :):) Anyway, it was a fantastic show and both my husband and son thought it was great and were very glad they went. It is worth the money but don%26#39;t buy the most expensive seats as there are no bad seats in theatre. Go for the cheapest which is the 2nd mezz. and you will be fine. The stage has a huge video screen and you see her up close that way.

  • celine dion at ceasars

does anybody know if celine dion is still on at caesars,we would like to go see her on the 20th march. also what does everybody wear to these shows.

    celine dion at ceasars

Check Caesars own web sight and click onto ';New Day'; which is her show. It will have her schedule and I believe she is there but you better book your tickets now if there are any left. You can just wear casual dress and be comfortable. It is a fantastic show.

    food deals

Can anyone let me in on some of the fantastic Vegas food deals. Sometimes it is fun to find those $.99 breakfasts and those $2.99 prime rib dinners. Where and when are they?

    food deals

$0.99 Shrimp cocktail at Golden Gate casino downtown. This is also the coolest ';old'; downtown casino with pld photos, old slt machines, etc. Go at night when the old guy is playing the piano and hang around for a half hour or so.

$4.95 Steak special at Ellis Island casino (two blocks east of Balley%26#39;s) is the best five bucks you will spend on food in town. 10 oz. sirloin steak, potato, salad, green beans and rolls. Served 24/7 and it is NOT on the menu, simply ask for it. (They typically overcook the steak slightly, so order med-rare if you usually order medium.)

Be Informed Before You Make Flight Reservations!!

with the expedia.com controversy, i said i would give feedback on a date change i requested for a flight from lax to vegas.

i phoned delta airlines who confirmed that though it was just the date (from 03 june to 28 may) i wanted to change on my flight costing 49 dollars, they still had to penalize me with 100 dollars.

so it%26#39;s better to just ignore the reservation and make (and pay) for another.

tip: the longer you book in advance, the cheaper the BUT: the higher the penalty when you need to alter or change your dates.

it seems better to make one booking per time than multiple bookings at once, simply for if or when you need to change just one of your flights.

any other comments or tips on this will be appreciated.

btw is it ok or legal to offer my 03 june paid ticket for free to someone who can use it?

    royboy

Be Informed Before You Make Flight Reservations!!

    Roy,

You%26#39;ll have to ask the airline about that. Most US carriers after 9-11 sell the ticket to that person and that person only. Keeps people from buying plane tickets in their name and giving them to potential terrorists.

    Joe

Be Informed Before You Make Flight Reservations!!

The airlines will get with you with all the fees. Unless you book a full fare ticket with no restrictions, they will charge $100 to change it.

If you have a really cheap fare, it may be better to rebook the entire thing, but I%26#39;m never lucky enough to have fares that low. They will also charge you the fare difference. Sometimes you luck out and the fare is actually lower than when you originally booked it and that will counter the change fee.

An no, you are the only one that can use the original ticket. You will be issued a voucher for the unused portion of your old flight, but Delta will charge a fee to use it. Not sure how much since its only $49.

You will have to pay the penalty. Doesn%26#39;t matter if you book 1 week or 1 year in advance. In your case, sounds like it would have been cheaper to just cancel and rebook.

The only time you don%26#39;t have to is if the airport closes due to weather related causes, etc. such as the hurricanes down here.

We had to reschedule a flight in Sept. and it didn%26#39;t cost anything, but there was a time restriction (60 or 90 days I think).

No one else can use your ticket anymore. The person boarding has to be the name on the ticket.

    what

No one else but you can use your ticket--- they have to buy a whole new ticket. If you have to cancel your flight it is often times resuable for up to a year (minus the reissue fee - normally 100.00; plus any additional airfare). As far as date changes- they%26#39;re no fun but all airlines impose fees to change-- you really should know your exact dates before booking and stick with them if at all possible.

I can%26#39;t tell you how many times a day I have people get ticked off about change fees even when they booked the reservation online themselves.... they always try to blame me or the company. That%26#39;s life!

Fly Southwest and you will NEVER get hit with those ridiculous fees. Change as many times as you want and it costs nothing.

    ';O'; seats sec104 seats 14-16...

does anyone know if these seats are closer to center stage or closer to the side?

    ';O'; seats sec104 seats 14-16...

Did you look at the seating thing on the TI website? It shows where every seat is.... I think I am in same section but seats 1-4 (might be 103)

O is at the Bellagio. Mystere is at TI.

woops.... but the theaters seem exactly the same, and I think Bellagio has a view of seats for O. ( I was thinking of Mystere)

These are good seats. They are in the front section closest to the stage. When will you be there? We will be in sec. 102 seats 14%26amp;15 on March 30th. Have fun!!

  • travel agent question..

    Anyone used a travel agent?

this is the first year we did and think all is going to go smoothly, they said our vouchers will arrive 2 weeks prior to departure..

anyone used this method and dealt with the vouchers that can add some insight..

    bella

    april 11 here we comeeeeeeeeeeeee

    travel agent question..

Which travel agency is providing you with vouchers?? We have a great deal of overseas travelers who use them, but state side, we tend to be provided a single use credit card issued for the stay. We do have vouchers, but they tend to be less frequent with travelers from within the U.S.

Is your travel agent local to Copperas Cove?? Did you use an on base travel agent - if so I can better understand the voucher.

    travel agent question..

Yes in Copperas Cove and they provide us vouchers, we even prepaid for the shuttle to and from the airport...

    hope this helps..

TB - if it%26#39;s a local TA, you should have no problems, I would only be concerned if it were on online TA you never get to see face to face.

The Travel agent will receive your documents from the company that the package was booked through. Who was that?

Maybe Funjet Vacations or Southwest Vacations? There are several tour operators. Doc%26#39;s aren%26#39;t received by agents until 2-3 weeks prior. Air tickets are almost always electronic now so your voucher might be a single sheet of paper with your names, flight info, hotel info and airport transfer info. Don%26#39;t be alarmed. I am a travel agent in Buffalo NY.

Why anyone with access to the Intenet would require the services of a travel agent for a trip to Las Vegas amazes me. Fly Southwest Airlines (or similar low-fare) ticketless and book directly with the hotel%26#39;s website. Takes all of a couple hours at most and you will not have to be concerned with ';vouchers'; or other documents getting lost or not showing up on time.

Thanks for the responses, first of all ss and ismoke we ususally book online, but the credit card security code on the back of our card was scratched, so therefore we couldnt do it that way..

    thanks,,,,

and to the buffalo t.a., thanks sooo much and vhm ty soo much, we are flying on southwest airlines.....so the airport thing will most likely be a piece of paper that we take, will they exchange it for an e-ticket.?

    thanks

    bella

bump bump bumpin this post up.....

    hehehe

I used a travel agent for the hotel part of my stay because their price was cheaper than booking directly with the hotel, and my specific travel agent doesn%26#39;t charge a fee for leisure travel. I got a confirmation letter, and the travel documents arrived just as she said they would.

UofTx did they mail em to ya, or did u pick em up? also were they vouchers and were they easy to use...

sorry so many questions but i am an avid planner ..lol

Most of the package consolidators, Funjet, Southwest Vacations, America West Vacations mgmmirage Vacations etc. etc. use the ';voucher'; systems

It does not cost the consumer any more to use a travel agent - price through a package builder should be the same if you book direct or use an agent. benefit of using the agent, if you have good one, they will shop all of the packages and get you the lowest of the rates for the same hotel/flight times. Otherwise, you are stuck doing the legwork.

  • Does staying at the Bellagio have any perks?

As in some casino hotels give you free access to things when you are a guest or front of the line access to things.

Does the Bellagio offer anything like that?

Does staying at the Bellagio have any perks?

    Perks at Bellagio?

Here is a list of what you should be able to get if you are staying at Bellagio:

    1. Line pass for Bellagio Buffet and Cafe Bellagio. To get a line pass, simply join the MGM/Mirage Players Club in the casino. The Players Club host will give you a line pass valid for the duration of your stay. If they don%26#39;t offer, ask nicely and it will be given to you. If you already happen to be a member of the MGM/Mirage Players Club, ask a concierge for a line pass or the check-in host. Remember that nothing is free in Vegas and you need to ask (nicely) for certain things;

    2. Exclusive use of pool and Bellagio Spa. Also, Bellagio Salon is exclusive to guests of the hotel;

    3. Preferred seating for ';O';. This is a nice perk as tickets for this show are hard to get. Splurge and order the best seats available. The show is well worth the ticket price ($150 per person);

    4. If you join the aforementioned Players Club and you play slots and Video poker, you can earn comps which are points based on how much money you put into the machines. If I recall, 1,000 points will give you a free buffet for 2 (example). To get room, food and beverage (RFB) comped, you will need to accumulate much more. Check with the Bellagio website and click to the Players Club if you have questions. I am not a slot player so I cannot tell you too much about the slot comp rewards. Important to note that you can link accounts. This means that you and your significant other can play 2 machines using the same account and have both cards count towards one account. If you like table games, Bellagio will not rate your play unless you are playing $25 per hand (strict minimum). To get RFB, you need to play $125 per hand (minimum) for at least 4 hours per day. Bellagio does not give out comps as easily as other casinos. For example, Stardust will give you RFB if you play $25 a hand at blackjack for 4 hours. Bellagio will say thank you very much, would you like a free buffet?

Beyond the above 4 points, I don%26#39;t see what other ';perk'; you can get. There are things like exclusive use of the Shadow Creek Golf Course (open only to guests at MGM properties). But remember that the green fees are $500 + tip + tax.

Staying at the Bellagio is an excellent choice if you want to stay in a luxury hotel. If you are smart, you can actually get a decent rate there. But nothing is ';free'; in Vegas.

Does staying at the Bellagio have any perks?

    1. if you get a lake view room you have the most fantastic views of their fountain show 24/7. They even have a tv channel in your room with the music that accompanies the fountain show so you can hear it.

    2. you get face value seating in a very good location especially set aside for bellagio guests at their sold out show %26#39;O%26#39;

    3. you get full use of their spa and their pool

    4. and you get preferential treatment by the conceirge for dinner reservations within the hotel and within vegas. They also do their best to get you sought after tickets to other shows

    Cheap Hotels on/near The Strip

I%26#39;ll be going to Las Vegas at the end of October for my 30th birthday. I%26#39;m not too fussed about staying in the expensive $100/$200+ a night, and am quite happy to stay somewhere cheaper. As long as it%26#39;s clean and near to The Strip. I%26#39;ve looked at some of the hotels on The Strip for cheaper prices but would appreciate advice from anyone who%26#39;s stayed in the cheaper hotels (i.e Bellagio and Venetian are definitely out!!)

Last time I stayed the the Las Vegas Hilton but it was a little too far out, and would prefer somewhere a little closer.

    Cheap Hotels on/near The Strip

I%26#39;m a big fan of Priceline.com -- if you%26#39;re not picky about where you stay, I think Priceline is a great option. To see the list of hotels, visit biddingfortravel.com -- you may be able to get something super cheap so far out. As long as you%26#39;re not going the first week in November, you won%26#39;t have any problems finding a cheap room... there are huge conventions going on the first 1-2 weeks of November.

    Cheap Hotels on/near The Strip

alot of people like the Orleans--its not on the strip. Aladdin is on strip and will be undergoing renovations/construction to change it to Planet Hollywood--so they might have some good deals if willing to deal with that whole issue.

I%26#39;d just keep on looking at the hotel websites, sign up for their email promotions. I got emails from Mirage and tropicana with ';special'; rates for March and April just a few weeks ago. Depending on your dates and overall occupany rates-- some of the bigger strip hotels have rates starting at under a $100.

Like everyone else will tell you--when you see a good rate book it and you can always cancel if something better comes along. Also check travelzoo.com-- they have had some specials for LV hotels--usually for march, april and sometimes may in the recent weeks.

Do you have rough dates? Weekends are always gonna cost more, try to go Sun-Thur for cheapest rooms. Are you going to rent a car? If so, staying off-strip (any of the Station casinos, the Orleans) would probably get you sub-100 rate. The new monorail runs right next to LV Hilton, so it%26#39;s more accessible. Maybe a north-strip property like stratosphere, sahara, stardust, new frontier. Also, this far out, rates are still in flux, probably check again within 3 months of trip for better rates. Just make sure you book direct and not thru a travel site - they sometimes impose a cancellation penalty whereas a direct reservation usually has no penalty within 48-72 hours of arrival.

I assume you mean a hotel on or within a short walk to the strip.

Some inexpensive on-strip options include Barbary Coast and Casino Royale, which are midstrip across from Caesars Palace and Mirage, respectively (great location). Neither have a pool, but in late October that might not matter. Imperial Palace also is an option in this part of Vegas (across from CP as well.)

Southstrip there is the San Remo which is off-strip but very close to MGM Grand, Tropicana, and NYNY. The Tropicana itself might fit your budget as well.

There are plenty of tripadviser reviews for these hotels (just scroll down the column on the left) to get a sense of what%26#39;s what.

I agree that the IP would probably fit the bill for you better than anything else for location and reasonable price.

Thanks everyone for all your advice, it%26#39;s all much appreciated. I%26#39;ll be heading over there over the halloween weekend, so I guess the prices will be a little higher, but that%26#39;s okay.

I%26#39;ll keep on looking for the better deals off the sites you have mentioned and may risk leaving it another month or two before booking the hotel. Although as I will be there for a holiday weekend it may be best to book sooner, do you think? Also one of you guys mentioned Las Vegas is going all convention week on me, which will be around the time I%26#39;ll be there but I%26#39;m sure not all the hotels will be booked up just yet.

On strip and cheap, Imperial Place, Circus Circus, Tropicana, Excalibur, Frontier, Stardust, Casino Royale, Riviera and Barbary Coast. My recommendation from this group Imperial Palace, and Stardust.

Off Strip and cheap, San Remo, Gold Coast, Orleans and Palace Station. My recommendation Orleans. They have a shuttle that will get you to the Strip free and in no time.

San Remo is a great place to stay. We have stayed there three times. There are some really crappy reviews of it on here. They would scare me away, but typically I like to discover things on my own. Anyways, we did discover that if you ask for services at the San Remo- like an upgrade- they will grant it or grant it the next day. We got rooms there for $39 to $49 a night.

Do you think it was smart to let all the gals on the make that your hubby now has an extra Thou on him and where they can find him? And on top of that you let them know they have 2 months to leave before you have a chance at finding them??

Honestly dont think I need to worry...he LOVES me!!! ;) hehehe

    Queen,

I%26#39;m sure he does. Just having a little fun with you is all. And yes, it%26#39;s mostly us locals, although I do know GeorgeandJoanna have made a few posts during thier stay. We played craps and had dinner with them at the Orleans last night. After paying for dinner from our winnings we (George and I) each went home with $100 profit.

    Joe

2 words UH HUH LOL. Just kidding gamblingqueen.

I%26#39;ll be there May 8th-11 with 2 other guys ; ). Seriously though let me know if y%26#39;all want to have a meet and greet for a drink or 2 maybe at the Sahara so we can find Vegas Man ';Joe'; and flip him a toke for his great advise.

    Matt

    Nsane,

Don%26#39;t look for me at the Sahara. I don%26#39;t work there, and rarely if ever have a reason for going there. When I first moved here, once in a while I%26#39;d got there for the $2.99 (Now $5.99) breakfast buffet. But that was before I found out other buffets served real food.

Tip the dealers, I%26#39;m not allowed to take cash. Gifts are nice, I wear XL-XXL in shirts, and 20'; necklace and any size Cadillac will fit me and my driveway. ;-)

    Joe

I know you%26#39;re teasing VM-glad to hear you hooked up w/ George and Joanna and made some $$ to boot! I%26#39;ve picked up a few tips on craps from your posts and plan on practicing here so I%26#39;m a pro by the time I get out there! Also plan on using your tipping strategy using the house%26#39;s coin-makes sense to me! Now I just gotta make sure I find ya!

Nsane-love to hook up w/ ya but we leave on the 8th!! Go visit VM anyway at the Stardust!!

    No problem VM,

Should I just drive it up and down the strip yelling ';Hey Joe, heres your Caddy!!!';? Kidding of course but I will bring you a really nice Cavs shirt or a blue and orange tie.

    Matt

Too bad queen , I used to have great times in Milwaukee. Used to go every winter when I worked for HD. Great people in that town. BTW thanks for the tip on the Stardust, I think I meant that but had a brain f**t.

    Matt

    Matt,

I appreciate the offer, completely unecessary, but appreciatted. If you feel my advice is worth that much, great. But that is not why I%26#39;m here. I love this town and want to make sure everyone gets the best advice possible. Call it job security for me. As long as there are people wanting to come to Vegas I%26#39;ll have a job to go to.

    Joe

Nsane-yeah thats a bummer, my fun will be over and yours just starting! Milwaukee is a great town w/ great people-the weather is awful though. We have pretty much 8 months of winter and 4 of spring/summer-yukay. Those 4 months are good ones though!

VegasMan how was George on the pints?? I hope he had a good time-always sounded like he was fun!

    Happy Hour

    Hi,

I know LV is one big happy hour but do any hotels have the traditional 4p-7p Happy Hour..2 for 1%26#39;s, finger food, etc?

    Bob

    Happy Hour

I recently read that Napoleons Lounge in Paris has happy hour from 4-7 and they serve free sandwiches from a carving station with the purchase of a drink.

Main Street Station downtown has happy hour from 3-6p that I plan on checking out in March.

    Happy Hour

I saw that the Pink Taco at the Hard Rock has a Happy Hour from 4-7pm. The Main Street Station downtown has a good Happy Hour if you like brew pub beer. Plus the MSS has a piece of the Berlin Wall behind the urinals. How cool is that!

    american

    Can you actually test it for ';waterproofing?';

I%26#39;ve been to Milwakee every winter for 20 years as a HD dealer so if you recomend the place for beer I%26#39;m THERE !!!

There are a few good Las Vegas happy hours listed here: http:/www.happy-hour.com

  • Las Vegas show home tour

Last year we went through several luxury model homes that were part of a tour. We drove to a parking ground where shuttles took people from home to home. I believe it was about $20 and in the areas of Summerlin or Henderson. We%26#39;ll be traveling back to Las Vegas at the end of March and were wondering if there was anything like this going on again.

    Las Vegas show home tour

I haven%26#39;t heard of this yet. Do you remember who you booked the tour through? Sounds like a fun afternoon.

    Las Vegas show home tour

We purchased tickets at the first home. Nobody at the hotel or anywhere else had heard of it. I happened to see an ad for it in the hotel room.

Players Club Cards at the Aladdin?

I%26#39;m sorry if this is a stupid question but I can%26#39;t find any information about a players club card at the Aladdin. I%26#39;ll be staying there in a few weeks and want to sign up for one if they have them. Any info would be great. Thanks!

Players Club Cards at the Aladdin?

Yes they have one. I was just there this week and they were having a promotion when you sign up you get a mug.

Players Club Cards at the Aladdin?

Awesome, thanks! Can you sign up for them online? I know you can do that for some hotels but, again, I%26#39;m having trouble finding info on the net.

Aladdin HAD a pretty good players club. If you go to the promotions booth they will take some of your info and get you signed up. If you are staying with a significant other you may want to get both cards in one name to help earn comps faster.

Aladdin has recently changed how they calculate points, but as of 2/23 they were still handing out literature with the old (better) program. It used to be $15 slot play earned you 1 point. 500 points earned you Gold status ($7500 through play) . It now takes $20 to earn 1 point and 750 points to earn gold status ($15,000 through play). They are adding a platinum status which I believe they said was 5250 points ($105,000 through play).

Keep track of your points and upgrade to gold as soon as you qualify. It qualifies you for discounts in some of the mall shops, line cuts when you go to dinner at the casino, spa discounts, etc. I%26#39;ve had good luck with meal and room comps.

    Anthony Cools

Has anyone ever seen or heard of him? I see he%26#39;s starting a show at the Paris. Looks like it could be funny.

    Anthony Cools

    He does put on a VERY funny ADULT Hypnosis show. Real nice and funny guy too. When he first came to Vegas, Summer of 2004 he performed at the Stardust. If the Craps game was dead, he%26#39;d come over, pull out a $10 bill and in a trancelike voice say ';You%26#39;re going to let me win, tomorrow you%26#39;ll all be working for me';

    Next Sat

Hey just looking for the scope on whats going down in Vegas next saturday. Will be in town for a week and want to knows whats hot, what I should attend and not attend, Where to gamble, party, and who is going to be down there around this time(acts %26amp; and people)

Go to Vegas.com, select shows and enter the dates of your stay. You%26#39;ll get the whole list from them.

    Vegas to CA

We are taking a trip to Las Vegas for daughter%26#39;s college graduation celebration. She would love to go to California. Are there any trips from Las Vegas to California? How far would that be?

    Vegas to CA

Hey! We are taking ours to Vegas for her college graduation too,, and even treating her boyfriend! I do know that you can get from Vegas to Santa Monica in about 4 hours, maybe 4.5. I would think you could rent a car, go a couple of days, and then return to Vegas. Venice and Santa Monica Beaches are both a lot of fun.

    Vegas to CA

I am getting married in Vegas then we are going on our honeymoon to LA and staying in Santa Monica. Do you know of any places to stay that are not going to cost an arm and leg? We are flying and it is only $39 (or something like that) a person to fly Southwest.

wow, that is a cheap flight!! The inexpensive place I stayed last time was the non-beach Travelodge on Pico, which was actually pretty nice. We wanted a simple room that was easy to get to and from. We had a car, you will need one too. There are probably better ones right near Third Street Promenade or the beach, even inexpensive ones, if you mostly want to walk places. I looked up Ocean Inn and Sea Shore Motel. These are $50-$80 dollar places.

    Thank you for the info.

PROTIP: Avoid Venice @ night like the plague.

  • What type of quilt do you like
  • Caesars Tower Spa Room

Has anyone ever stayed in a CP Spa Room? I%26#39;ve read some bad reviews, and I';m having a hard time deciding whether to stay at CP or the Luxor. Thanx

    Caesars Tower Spa Room

No contest...CP kicks butt. Of all the places I%26#39;ve stayed in LV, CP is the best.

  • Need Help Finding the Right Buffet

    Hey Guys,

Staying at the Venetian in two weeks and need help finding the right buffet. I%26#39;m looking for something that has sushi, king crab or lobster, shrimp, prime rib/steak, and good desserts. I figure this should run 25-35 for dinner on the weekend, but where is the best place to get all of this? I%26#39;m open to recommendations on and off the strip.

    Thanks

    Doug

Need Help Finding the Right Buffet

Village Seafood Buffet at RIO or Cravings at Mirage

best dessert at Aladdin Spice market buffet

Need Help Finding the Right Buffet

    YES !

The Seafood Buffet at RIO .

Agree with above...Village Seafood Buffet at Rio..just get there early lines get long... if you have a Diamond Card you don%26#39;t have to wait.

    what is a diamond card?

Diamond Card is their casino player card..

    Definitely the RIO!

Actually Bichons, the Diamond card is the Upper end players card. You need to show some serious play or have a BIG line of credit to get this. The regular players card is the Total Rewards card and this will not get you into the shorter lines.

    Mayhem,

Easiest way to get to the Rio is take the free shuttle over rom Harrah%26#39;s. Harrah%26#39;s is next to the Venetian. Pretty much all buffets will offer those things, especially on a weekend night. Bellagio has my favorite buffet. $33.95 plus tax on Fri or Sat night. King Crab legs that the meat just lifts out, no fighting required.

    Joe

I know Vegasman...you have to get 10,000 reward points for that tier in a year...my husband has one..we go to Harrahs New Orleans alot...and I think a platinum card may also let you bypass the lines at the Rio, but not at Harrahs New Orleans buffet..

Vegasman if you read this.. Is Bellagio%26#39;s buffet better than Rio for seafood? Never eaten at Bellagio... Thanks in advance.....your advice is always very helpful....

Rio has much better seafood period. Not as good as it used to be before Harrah%26#39;s took over, but better than Bellagio.

    MGM dining credit promotion

MGM has a promotion going on that give $25 in dinig credit. Do youknow what it is?

Is it just one lump sump amount you can use anyway you want or if you spend say $100 you get 25 off kind of thing?

    MGM dining credit promotion

The $25 will be deducted from your bill at the end of your stay. My mother and I ate at the buffet and charged it to our room. The credit was applied in our total balance.

    MGM dining credit promotion

so no coupon or voucher instead just a credit?

How was your stay? Any suggestion on room selection?

How is the west tower? any good or should I try the grand tower instead?

Vegas man...One more question please re main street buffet

    Dear kind sir,

I am taking your advice and NOT going to sahara bufet, we are going to main street on Friday night the 25th of March. My question is what time should we arrive in order to avoid the loooong lines. Do you know their hours of operation. Thanks again, Virginia

Vegas man...One more question please re main street buffet

Vegas man...One more question please re main street buffet

    Nurse,

Friday night they are open from 4p-10 it%26#39;s Seafood Galore night and price is $15.99. The longest I ever had to wait in line was 20 minutes. But I push and shove my way to the front whenever possible ;-) One of the perks of being a local. They say go early to avoid lines, but if I eat at 4:00 I%26#39;ll be back at 10:00.

    Joe

That is a tough one to answer. Google Main Street Staion and you get:

Cheap breakfast and Good Buffet Downtown

Anybody have any ideas for eating fairly cheap downtown for

breakfast and lunch. Don%26#39;t mind paying more for dinner but

the early stuff would like to keep it down.

    Thanks ahead.

Cheap breakfast and Good Buffet Downtown

Depends on your definition of cheap I guess, but I like the Bay City Diner at Golden Gate for breakfast. Good food, very reasonably priced.

Cheap breakfast and Good Buffet Downtown

If you want all you can eat, the buffets at Golden Nugget and Main Street station serve very nice meals. Lanai Cafe at the Fremont is a good place for a quick snack.

we also like bay city diner,

carson at g.n., and lunch at mss brew pub, for more ideas

Main Street Station breakfast buffett a must! .....Fantastic and about $7-$8.....their brunch on weekends is about double that, however. Understand their dinners are great, too, but we usually only have room/time for one big meal a day while there:-)

  • How much spemding money would you bring?

I%26#39;ll be staying at the luxor march 23-30 and don%26#39;t plan on doing much gambling. We are seeing three shows and they are paid for. The hotel and airfare is paid as well. I don%26#39;t plan on any spa treatments.

So, how much would you suggest bringing?

How much spemding money would you bring?

The title of this was supposed to read ';spending'; not ';spemding'; HA!

How much spemding money would you bring?

For seven nights, depending on the quality of meals, for a really nice dinner, plan on spending $40-$50 a night. During the day, hit a buffet close to brunch--11 am for about $12. In the morning, get a coffee and pastry downstairs in the cafe for about $6. Multiply $68 by 7 days and that%26#39;d be about $475 for food. Taxis would be $6 for 5 one way trips at $30. Alcohol is free if you gamble. So plan on spending $40/day to milk the quarter/nickel/penny slots, $280. Souvenirs/postcards another $25/day $175. Total estimated costs for food, taxis, gambling(cheap slots) and souvenirs about $960 to $1000 as an outside suggestion not knowing your tastes.

your in wonderful shape, all you need is dining out money.they give the food away is you check the deals on the web.we did alot of lunch meals when we were there.straosphere was excellent, the forum shops at caesars also excellent,so many places.we figured $100 a day for two and spent no where near that.,all depends how fancy you want to go. oh, check the $7.00 steak and shrimp special at hard rock but you have to ask for it.

Places where you need cash are the machines, tables, taxis and for tips. For everything else you can use a Credit card or ATM/Visa type card. Don%26#39;t carry a weeks worth of cash, in case your wallet/purse is lost or stolen. Or use replaceable Travelers Checks.

Me and Hubby went last yr, 4 nights 5 days stayed at the luxor and did a whollllleeee bunch, even a little gambling and took 500 a piece, it was plenty..

even had some$$$ to get SOME THINGS AT THE AIRPORT ON THE WAY HOME..

I usually outline a reasonable budget for what I think will get me by and then double it. That might cover what my expenses typically end up being!

I actually made my goal of keeping to the $500 I brought for a week, even with gambling I didn%26#39;t have to go to the ATM once!

Depends on whether you plan on staying at the Luxor most of the time or whether you want to visit other hotels on/off the Strip. Either be prepared to do a lot of walking, or bring a little extra for cab fares. The monorail is another option, but from where you are you would have to get to MGM Grand to catch it.

For eating - most hotels have food courts that are kind of like the kind you would see in a shopping mall, so you can eat on the cheap if you don%26#39;t want a fancy restaurant or aren%26#39;t that hungry...

    Have FUN!!

No more than you can afford to lose :)

    Seriously.

I would also consider using your ATM/Debit card to minimize carrying cash around.

I would bring $1,000; should be enough cash. Then use credit cards for back up if needed.

I would not advise carrying a large amount of cash like that on your person. Too risky.

With such easy access to ATM%26#39;s today, there%26#39;s really no reason to.

Your opinions on Green Valley Ranch Resort?

    Hi..

Im thinking of giving my parents a Vegas vacation as an anniversary gift. They don%26#39;t care too much for the strip noise and party scene.

This property looks very nice from their website, but I would like to hear from someone who has been there before I book it.

Any pros or cons I need to be made aware of? I saw a rate of $159 a nite.

Your opinions on Green Valley Ranch Resort?

I have not been in the rooms, but the casino is VERY nice. For a look at the resort and how it%26#39;s run. $159 a night is 1/2 of the rates I%26#39;ve seen. I guess they have not been able to sell out all their rooms. Check out ';American Casino'; on the Discovery channel. It%26#39;s all about that casino. For 1/3rd the Price they can stay at the Orleans which has VERY nice rooms. And much closer to the Strip.

Your opinions on Green Valley Ranch Resort?

Thanks VegasMan....I will be sure to look into it!

GVR is a beautiful property with all the amentities - If you want lavish - off the strip, it%26#39;s a great place to be - Just ask Michael Jackson ;-)

Is there an easy way to get to this place from the strip?

How much is the taxi to it and back? We want to go there for St. Pat%26#39;s day.

    Lord,

There is a free shuttle that runs from Mandalay Bay to GVR the link for the schedule is: greenvalleyranchresort.com/templates/…

GVR is awesome. It%26#39;s definitely nice to get away from the strip. You may also want to check out the JW Marriott, which is in Summerlin. That is fabulous too - the spa is beautiful and the rooms are great. I%26#39;d pick either one of those places.

This resort is very nice and quiet. My brother-in-law just finished overseeing their expansion construction. He says that the spa is awesome and the rooms are very nice. I saw the property last Feb. and I liked it. The casino is nice and not too large, but spaced out well so you don%26#39;t feel crowded. The only drawback is that it is away from the strip but they may have a shuttle if they want to head that way.

I%26#39;ve never stayed at Green Valley Ranch, but I love visiting the property. It is a very nice casino, and the buffet there is one of my favorites. Especially because you can get ice cream shakes!

Also, the casino is spread out, and not smokey, and they have nice restaurants. It also has a movie theater!!!

I also like that you can walk out and go to the shops at the District. If you don%26#39;t mind being far from the strip, then this is a good place.

    thanks everyone!!!!

I value your input,, and I think I will go ahead and book this for Mom and Dad.....Sounds like a winner!!

    Have a good day!

    thanks everyone!!!!

  • experience with Yahoo travel anyone?

i%26#39;m getting a very good price quote, about $100 better than everyone else, on Yahoo travel. anyone have any experience using them? thanks.

    experience with Yahoo travel anyone?

Never used Yahoo travel, but was curious so I checked out vacation package prices against Southwest Airlines, which we use all the time. SWA prices were lower, by far, for the same number of days and available hotels. If you don%26#39;t mind not having reserved seating, you might consider checking them out.

    experience with Yahoo travel anyone?

the price for my trip on yahoo increased $100 since yesterday. luckily, the price went down on funjet however. so i booked with them. i can%26#39;t use southwest because they have no non-stops from cleveland to vegas. or if they did, they were at bad times, i can%26#39;t remember. anyhow, i got a non-stop flight on continental and 4 nights at the golden nugget for $675 through funjet. yahoo was the next best price i found (after a lot of looking) and they were $770 as of tonight. thanks for the tip anyway.

Understand........We get nonstops from SA at good times and that%26#39;s very appealing.......I like America West but we have the same problem here with flight availability. If you book with AW here, they only offer flights getting there at 11pm and returning to SA at 2am.....Hope you enjoy your stay downtown...I hear nothing but good about the GN......We stayed downtown for the first time in Jan. If you get a chance, check out the Main Street Station breakfast buffet. They open at 7 am and are very reasonable for great buffet (around $7, I think), but the brunch on the weekends is about double that price. We%26#39;re going back to the strip in May, but I%26#39;m tempted to take a cab downtown for breakfast, gamble some, then back to the strip!

great tip on the main street station buffet - thanks. i%26#39;ll definitely check it out. i hear that%26#39;s an interesting place anyway. speaking of buffets, a couple people on this board said there%26#39;s a good all you can eat sushi place at the aladdin. i could eat that stuff 3 meals a day.

    StaunchSteve....Orleans question for you

Steve we are thinking about the Orleans for our trip in July and I have seen how you recommend the hotel etc. Just wondered is there any shops, convenience stores nearby or just nice walks around the general area - I really like a good walk and we will be staying for about a week. Thanks. Please let me know anymore plusses if you can!!

    StaunchSteve....Orleans question for you

Also Steve, do you know how the pool is and the workout facilities? My wife and I are in our 30%26#39;s and would be visiting for our 3rd wedding anniversary. What is the crowd age there? Thanks

    StaunchSteve....Orleans question for you

Does anyone know the answer to this question...please!

There are one or two convience type stores around the orleans within 10 minutes walk. The area is safe enough to walk around in, although there is nothing really to see. It is however an excellent casino and the shuttle runs very often to the strip, on average the most you usually wait is 20 minutes

Right across from the Orleans is an Irish Pub and a mini strip mall with a few eating choices. Panda Express is the one I know is there. After that you have a Bank of America (Home Depot sits behind the bank) and next to that a 7-11. Across the street diagonally from the 7-11 is a Walgreens. In the center behind Walgreens there is a Day Spa, 24 hour fitness (Gym) a Denny%26#39;s and several other business%26#39;. Not much to see around there, but it is a safe area to walk (As noted previously). Take the free shuttle to get to the strip.

Thank you both for your replies....!

    Paul,

The pool is nothing fancy, it is nice, and some say it%26#39;s in the shadow of the tower during part of the day. So you may have to move chairs now and then to stay in or out of the sun. They charge $10 for use of the fitness area, but I beileve there is a free pass in the coupon book you get when checking in.

The crowd there varies, midweek you%26#39;ll see a LOT of locals. Drs, Lawyers, construction workers, cabbies and dancing girls come in for a drink or two or to try thier luck after they get off work. On the weekends the mix turns to more visitors. They have a lot of blowling leagues from CA (And other states) that come for the end of season trip.

You%26#39;ll see more kids upstairs near the theater and bowling alley. Good mix of restaurants and bars there. Make a sports bet and ask for drink tickets.

    Thanks Joe...

    Zumanity or other Adult Show

Finally time to buy tickets or set a plan on where to go. Want a different experience for hubby and I while in Vegas Thur-Mon. He wants to try Zumanity but The tickets are pricey, is it worth the price. I suggested a Vegas showgirl type show. Thanks for the help in making the final decision. Oh by the way couple 40 ish open minded looking to enjoy our time in Vegas together.

    Zumanity or other Adult Show

Click on ';Attractions'; on the left hand column of this website and read the reviews about Zumanity. I was surprised to hear so many negative opinions. Based on what I%26#39;ve read, I have decided to skip the show and check out something else on my next visit.

    Zumanity or other Adult Show

I haven%26#39;t seen Zumanity, but many reviews of it say that it is not up to par with the other Cirque shows and may not be worth the price. You might check out Midnight Fantasy at Luxor. My girlfriend and I saw this one in January and it was excellent. We had a great time during and after the show....it certainly opens the imagination lol. I believe it was around $40 per person with taxes....I think it was dark on Mondays.

save your money dont go zumanity.

I saw in October this is not cirque du soleil

We saw Zumanity Friday night and thought it was great! Of course it%26#39;s %26#39;not Cirque du Soleil%26#39; - it%26#39;s %26#39;another side of Cirque du Soleil%26#39; - as advertised! I had seen the negative posts, yet we still went and are glad we did. It was certainly a stimulating show, with several performances (8-10 maybe?) quite similar to %26#39;traditional%26#39; Cirque acts, but with a very sensual overtone. Quite a bit of humor, great costumes (for those that wore them!), and excellent music. We bought the $95 orchestra seats and were on the third row. I%26#39;d say it was worth it.

For something really inexpensive...you can probably get buy one get one free deal- check out ';ShowGirls of Magic';. It is a really hilarious and great show. It will really make you laugh.

It is at the San Remo- didn%26#39;t mention that above.

We did Zumanity and we really didn%26#39;t like it. It was just a little strange.

I saw Zumanity back in October and thought it was fantastic. It%26#39;s not typical CDS, but not too far off from it. A fantastic live soundtrack, great humor, dance, acrobatics, and half naked performers. What%26#39;s not to like? NYNY theater is small, so there isn%26#39;t a bad seat in the house. The $65 tickets are fine.

We%26#39;ve seen Zumanity (awesome), Showgirls of Magic and Midnight Fantasy (surprisingly good). I would highly recommend all of them.

We saw Zumanity last year, and it was OK. We got our tickets for free by going to one of those time share seminars. If you have a couple hours to kill, it%26#39;s worth sitting in on just to get the show tickets. You get 2 free tickets even if you don%26#39;t purchase a time share, but they are pretty high pressure, so you really have to stick to your guns. You get your choice of shows, and we chose Zumanity. I can%26#39;t remember the other choices, there is a kiosk in the New York New York, right by the reception area, and you can ask them.

    SWEET upgrade!

We were in Las Vegas last week. First 2 nights at Paris Hotel. We got an upgrade from a room to a suite - without asking! SWEET. Told them we wanted to go to Paris for our 25th anniversary and - here we are. She said she wanted to give us something special for this occasion: she would upgrade us to a suite AT NO EXTRA cost. Great room! Whirlpool for 2, walk-in glass shower, king size bed, wet bar, office center, separate changing area. The Paris Breakfast Buffet is wonderful - very unique food. Highly recommend it. (Stayed 2 nights at the Flamingo and they offered a room upgrade - for extra money. The only difference in the room was that we could see the strip-big deal)

    SWEET upgrade!

I%26#39;m glad to here you enjoyed yourself - and you liked the suite - You will find most hotels on the strip are just as hospitable when occupancy provides the us the ability.
